India T20 Squad for South Africa 2025 Series: Know Who's IN & Who's OUT

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday, December 3 announced the Indian squad for the T20I series against the South Africa Cricket Team. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the five-match T20I series, beginning December 9.

The Indian squad for the T20I series against South Africa was something that many waited eagerly for. This is because the squad will give a clear picture of what combination India will have for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka next year.

Suryakumar Yadav to Lead India T20 Squad for South Africa 2025 Series

The IND T20 squad for SA 2025 series will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav, while Shubman Gill who has been battling a neck injury, which kept him out of the second Test as well as the ODIs against South Africa, also has made a return to the team. But his availability with depend on the fitness clearance by BCCI's CoE. He has been named as the vice-captain of the side.

In what was a major boost for the team, Hardik Pandya made a return after injury following his comeback in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 for Baroda. Hardik, who is the best all-rounder in India, has been out of the action since Asia Cup 2025 final and his comeback for the showpiece event will act as a great confidence booster for the team.

The middle-order features some of the most dangerous batsmen in the world like Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya. After getting rested for the ODIs, Axar Patel is also back in the team and will be sharing the spin bowling duties with Varun Chakravarthy. Kuldeep Yadav, who was expected to miss the series due to his marriage has been named in the team.

Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy Dropped

What was surprising was Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh, who were part of the Australia series, have been dropped. This sends a message that the duo might make into the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was expected to make a comeback continues to miss out.

The Indian pace battery for the South Africa T20Is included Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh. The IND vs SA T20 squads feature some of the most dangerous batsmen in the world. As a result, this series is expected to be full of runs with exceptional batting performances.
