Will Indian Players Give the Bronco Test For the Asia Cup 2025?

All the contracted players at the Centre of Excellence on 29th, 30th and 31st August underwent multiple tests. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur and others were there for the tests. They underwent all the routine fitness tests along with the Yo-Yo test. It was speculated that the newly added Bronco test was also taken by the players.
What is Bronco Test?
As per the reports in The Times of India, it is learned that Indian players didn't undergo the Bronco test at the CoE during the recent fitness camp. The test was suggested by the newly appointed strength and conditioning coach, Adrian le Roux.
According to the Bronco test, a player has to start with a 20-metre run, followed by a 40-metre run and a 60-metre run. This constitutes one set. A player has to do five such sets, which adds up to 1200 metres without taking a break. This is usually taken up by the Rugby players.
Where will Indian Cricket Team Bronco Test Take Place?
While the Bronco test was not there at CoE, it is learned, as per Times of India, the test will be there now for the players, who will be part of the squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Team India Bronco test will take place in Dubai as they will be undergoing preparations for the tournament.
The Indian Cricket Team will be heading to Dubai on 4th September for the Asia Cup 2025. As per several reports, it is learned that they will begin their training on 5th September. It is expected that the Bronco test will be there before the team starts their training.
Team India will be beginning their campaign in the Asia Cup 2025 on 10th September with the game against the United Arab Emirates. Their next match will be against Pakistan on 14th September and then they will end the league stage on 19th September against Oman.
India are the defending champion of the Asia Cup. They defeated Sri Lanka in the last edition and would be keen to add more titles to their cabinet. Suryakumar Yadav, one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world, will be leading the side, while Shubman Gill will be his deputy.
Indian players to Successfully Pass Fitness Test at COE
The reports also added that almost every Indian player aced the test. Virat Kohli, who stays in London, was made to undergo a test in London and he passed it with flying colors. Kohli is one of the world's fittest cricketers and looked good in the test. The other Indian players who passed the test are as follows:
Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Jitesh Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Rajat Patidar, Ravi Bishnoi, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dubey, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy, Mukesh Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Sarfaraz Khan, Tilak Verma, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rishabh Pant, who are undergoing rehabilitation, will be taking tests in September. Also, the players who missed the first phase due to injury or illness will be there at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in September.
