Is Gurnoor Brar Ruled Out of ENG vs IND ODI Series 2026?

Gurnoor Brar made an excellent start to his ODI career after India featured the tall fast bowler in his first overseas international fixture. England had reached 61 without losing a wicket, but Gurnoor Brar quickly brought India back into the game with two important wickets in the same over. He first dismissed Jacob Bethell with a sharp, short ball that was caught by Washington Sundar near the boundary.

On the very next delivery, Brar removed Ben Duckett, who was batting confidently on 43. Duckett tried to play an upper cut over the infield but only managed to find Jasprit Bumrah in the deep, giving Brar his second wicket and reducing England to 64/2. One of the tallest Indian cricketers, Gurnoor Brar, impressed throughout his spell with his pace and extra bounce.

However, his memorable debut ended in an unfortunate way during the death overs. While running in to bowl the 48th over, Brar suddenly looked uncomfortable and appeared to suffer a muscle problem or severe cramps.

As of now, there is no official update on Gurnoor Brar injury, as he will be taken for some scans if deemed necessary by the support staff. He was in discomfort when he came in to bowl his last over of his spell, and the team physio came onto the field to check on him, but after a brief assessment, Brar was unable to continue and slowly walked off the ground.

Since he could not complete his spell, captain Shubman Gill immediately brought Axar Patel into the attack to bowl the 48th over. Axar adjusted well to the unexpected situation and finished the over by picking up 2 wickets and ending England's innings on 258 runs in 47.5 overs with one of the best batsmen in the world, Joe Root, remaining not out on 76 at the other end.
