India's star finisher Rinku Singh's father Khanchand Singh passed away on February 27, at a hospital in Greater Noida where he was admitted. He was diagnosed with liver cancer and had been going through several treatments from one year.

Amidst the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Rinku Singh has left the Indian camp and travelled back to his hometown to be with his family. The batter was quite close to his father, who had played a key role in his initial career growth.

The left-handed batter was dropped from the Indian team team from the last match against Zimbabwe and Sanju Samson was given a chance in his place. Now, Rinku has left the camp and might not return for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

With the West Indies match coming up on March 1, which is just two days away, the cricketer might not be able to return in time for this game. So far, there are no official confirmation on the same and the fans will have to wait for the Indian team management to open up about it.

Rinku Singh father death is a shocking news for all the cricket fans. The cricketer has traveled back to Aligarh to be with his family, where the last rites will be performed. Reports suggest that his health was deteriorating from the past few days and hence, the batter went to see his family after the match against South Africa.

“His condition had deteriorated significantly in recent days, following which he had been admitted to the hospital on February 21. He was placed on ventilator support and breathed his last early this morning,” said Dr. Sunil Kumar, spokesperson of Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida.

This incident has added to the list of cricketers who have suffered personal loss midway through their careers. A similar incident happened when Virat Kohli was playing Ranji Trophy back in 2009 and father passed away.

The cricketer went back to home, performed the rituals and came back to play the match, scoring 90 runs. Since then, he has gone to become one of the best cricketers in the world.

Rinku Singh T20 World Cup 2026 campaign hasn't been up to the mark. The left-handed middle order has scored 22 runs in five innings so far.
