MS Dhoni's Teammate Leaves IPL 2026, Joins Bangladesh Premier League

After opting out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, former England Cricket Team player Moeen Ali has signed a contract in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the upcoming 2025 edition of the tournament.

The Bangladesh Premier League 2025 will begin from December 26 and with the tournament just around the corner, Moeen Ali signed a deal with Sylhet Titans. The development was confirmed by the franchise itself on its social media accounts on December 15.

Moeen used to play for Chennai Super Kings during his playing days in the IPL. He represented the CSK team led by MS Dhoni and also played a pivotal role in their title-winning run.

Is Moeen Ali Playing BPL 2025?

Moeen Ali will be featuring in the BPL 2025 as he has joined the Sylhet Titans through a direct contract. Taking to social media, the franchise posted the total of former England all-rounder with the caption: “Drive, destroy, deliver. Moeen Ali is a Titan. Get out of the way.”

Moeen, who has a family connection in Sylhet, will be playing for his third team in the BPL 2025. The all-rounder has earlier played for Comilla Victorians and Duronto Rajshahi in the BPL and possesses a decent record in the league with bat and ball.

Moeen Ali in BPL has decent numbers as he has slammed 414 runs in 22 matches at a strike rate of 135.73 and taken 22 wickets with the ball. Overall in T20s, he has scored 7,513 runs and taken 265 wickets in 408 T20 matches. Being one of the best all-rounders in the world, he will be a great asset for Sylhet Titans in the 2025 edition of the league.

Moeen becomes the fourth player that the Sylhet Titans roped in through direct signing in the 2025 edition of BPL. Earlier, they acquired the services of cricketers Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, and Saim Ayub.

The former England all-rounder has been one of the finest players to have played T20 cricket. His experience with the bat and ball will be extremely handy for the Sylhet Titans as they would be eyeing to lift the trophy in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025.

Sylhet Titans Coaching Staff for BPL 2026

Ali recently confirmed that he won’t be taking part in the IPL 2026 and then made himself available for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. Also, playing in the BPL means that he will be active in some of the biggest cricket leagues in the world except the IPL.

Sylhet also recently made changes to their coaching staff ahead of the BPL 2025. They appointed Sohel Islam as the team's head coach and Imrul Kayes as the batting coach. They would be keen to help the side win. The team has some good players in the mix and if they play to their potential, they will be one of the hot favourites to win the title this year.
