Babar Azam plays a shot

Match-fixing in Pakistan isn't something new. The Pakistan cricket team has been affected with match-fixing scandals before, which has tarnished their global image.

Now, Pakistan match fixing controversy has returned midway during their series against England. This has prompted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take strict action before the third Test match in Edgbaston, Birmingham, which has one of the top cricket stadiums in England.

Did Pakistan Fix Match Against England?

According to a report in TOI, the changes in the Pakistan cricket team were not made without any reason. Instead, the PCB believes that there is something wrong in the team that forced them to take this decision.

The PCB has reportedly taken over the possession of the mobile phones of some of the players. The devices will now remain in the board's custody until the ENG vs PAK 3rd Test in Birmingham.

While the PCB is yet to provide any clarification on this move, Pakistan match fixing scandal has rocked the team. It has come down as a massive blow to them as they trail the three-match Test series 0-2.

Amir Mir, the PCB Director of Media and Digital Communications informed the TOI that the board has started investigation on this matter and will follow the due procedure.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board has initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry following media reports concerning discipline and conduct, which are currently being reviewed internally. The PCB handles such matters in accordance with its standard procedures. The process is being conducted under PCB regulations, ensuring that all concerned individuals are given due consideration," said Mir.
