The 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season is set to begin on October 11, with Punjab entering another campaign in search of a strong red-ball run. The side will open its Elite Group B campaign against Assam at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. Punjab will also have plenty of interest around Shubman Gill, with the India Test captain expected to feature for his state side as part of preparations for the upcoming New Zealand Test series.

Punjab Ranji Trophy Schedule 2026-27

Punjab are scheduled to begin their campaign against Assam on Sunday 11th October before hosting Chhattisgarh from October 18. Their remaining fixtures in the first phase include matches against Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh, before the tournament resumes in January.

Punjab Ranji Trophy Squad 2026-27

Punjab have assembled an experienced group featuring some of the best cricketers in India. The squad includes Uday Saharan, Anmolpreet Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Harpreet Brar, Gurnoor Brar, Harnoor Singh, Naman Dhir and Jashanpreet Singh Sidhu, among others.
The team has also added former one of the best bowlers in India, Umesh Yadav as a guest player. The experienced fast bowler is expected to strengthen Punjab's attack, particularly with Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar potentially unavailable because of national commitments.

Shubman Gill Set to Return for Punjab

The biggest attraction for Punjab fans could be Shubman Gill. The India captain is expected to turn out for Punjab in at least one Ranji Trophy game ahead of India's two-Test tour of New Zealand, provided he receives the required medical clearance and workload management approval.
That makes one of the best cricket stadiums in the world, Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in Mullanpur the venue to watch. Gill has already played international cricket at the ground and has a strong connection with Punjab cricket. His potential Ranji appearance would also give him valuable red-ball preparation before India's next Test assignment.
