India Legend Set Play in Hong Kong After Retirement

India's former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from Test cricket back in 2024. A few months later, the legendary spinner participated in the Indian Premier League and played for the Chennai Super Kings. However, Ashwin announced his retirement from the IPL as well.

After his IPL retirement, he informed his fans that he'll be available to play T20 leagues worldwide. After waiting for a few days, R Ashwin is all set to start a new journey which will allow the world to witness his skills with both bat and ball. This new journey was totally unexpected but Ashwin has always been known for trying out new things.

R Ashwin Hong Kong Sixes Debut

Legendary India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to play in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. The official page of Hong Kong Sixes made the announcement on their social media page on September 18. It is a huge step for the tournament, which is widely recognized all over the world for its entertaining brand of cricket.

The Hong Kong Sixes is a six-a-side, six overs tournament played between the best cricket teams in the world. Last year, the tournament was held in the month of November. Even the Indian team participated in the tournament and players like Manoj Tiwary, Robin Uthappa, Kedar Jadhav, and Stuart Binny were a part of it. This time, Ravichandran Ashwin will also participate in the tournament along with the other Indian players.

Ashwin, who has made invaluable contribution to the Indian cricket, announced his retirement during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-35. Amidst the series, he made a clear decision to step aside from the sport and give someone else the chance to represent the country. In Tests, he has played in 106 matches and taken 537 wickets.

He established himself as one of the best bowlers in the world and is quite famous for bowling with variations, with his carrom ball being his specialty. The offspinner is known as one of the smartest cricketers in the world and is quite an inspiration for the budding cricketers.

R Ashwin IPL Retirement

If we talk about IPL, Ashwin started his career with Chennai Super Kings back in 2009. He played a big role in CSK's IPL title wins in 2010 and 2011. After a huge gap, he was signed by CSK in the IPL 2025 mega auction, however, the results weren't satisfactory this time. Finally, after playing for 16 years, he decided to bid farewell to the tournament. It was an emotional moment for him and the fans.

However, the fans can still watch him playing live in other leagues. He is also expected to feature in some of the biggest cricket leagues in the world like the Big Bash league and The Hundred. In the IPL, Ashwin played for five different teams in 221 matches and claimed 187 wickets.

There were several games where he single-handedly helped his team win the game. Undoubtedly one of the best spinners in the tournament, CSK will miss the services of Ashwin in the upcoming seasons. His contributions with the bowl as well as with the bat has been quite crucial for the team throughout the years.
