Pakistan Cricket Team bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi made his debut in the Big Bash League (BBL) on Monday, December 15. Playing for Brisbane Heat, he took the field against Melbourne Renegades at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong.

Shaheen Afridi was given the second over of the innings, and he conceded two boundaries in his first over. Then after that, he was brought into the attack in the 13th over, and he was taken to cleaners with Tim Seifert hitting him all across the park, slamming 14 runs through boundaries.

Shaheen Afridi Ban in the BBL Heat vs Renegades Match

Shaheen Afridi BBL debut then turned into a nightmare as in the 18th over, he looked completely out of sorts. The Pakistan pacer gave away six on the first ball, and then, in what was the third ball, he bowled a no-ball. Shaheen Afridi no no-ball tally then was two, as on the fifth ball of the over, he bowled another no-ball. This didn’t go well with the umpire, who then made sure that his BBL debut turned into a nightmare.

As he bowled two no-balls in an over, Shaheen Afridi was taken off bowling as per the laws of the game, which state that a bowler won’t be eligible to bowl if he delivers two beamers.

Shaheen Afridi Gave 43 runs on his BBL Debut

Shaheen Afridi looked completely out of sorts on his BBL debut as he gave away 43 runs at an economy of over 16 in the 2.4 overs that he bowled. His poor outing cost the team as they ended up giving more than 210 runs on the board. Shaheen Afridi now would be under a lot of pressure as he also faced a lot of criticism for his poor outing with the ball on his BBL debut. The onus now will be on him to make a strong comeback in the second match and help his team win.

The Melbourne Renegades side posted a mammoth total of 212 runs on the board. Tim Seifert was the top run-getter for his team as he slammed a big ton, hitting 102. Oliver Peake was spot on with his finishing skills as well as he slammed 57 in the end to take his team to a big total. For the Brisbane Heat, Jake Wildermuth was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with the figures of 3/34 in the four overs that he bowled. Apart from him, Xavier Bartlett and Pattrick Dooley picked up one wicket each.

It remains to be seen how Shaheen Afridi comes back in one of the biggest cricket league in the world. Brisbane Heat will be next seen in action when they take on Perth Scorchers in their next game on December 19.
