After ₹5.7 Crore Setback, What Will Be Shikhar Dhawan’s Ex-Wife's Next Move?

Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s personal life has been in the news for a while now. Along with his illustrious career, his off-the-field things has caught the limelight, especially his married life with his ex-wife still being in the news.

Dhawan, one of the best ODI batsmen of all time, has been the talk of the town as he recently tied the knot for the second time with his longtime girlfriend, Sophie Shine. But, days after his second marriage, the former Indian cricketer has got a big relief in terms of his previous marriage, which now frees him from any liabilities.

Former India batter Shikhar Dhawan and ex wife Ayesha Mukherji, who got married in 2012, announced their separation in 2021. However, there were quite a few cases against the former Indian player which were related to the settlements.

Court Orders Ayesha Mukherji to Pay ₹5.7 Crore

The Shikhar Dhawan Ayesha Mukherji case has taken the headlines once again. Few days after his new marriage, Dhawan has potentially received his biggest gift. Patiala House Court has ruled that all of Ayesha Mukherji’s settlements are 'null and void'. Not only this, she has been ordered to pay ₹5.7 crore to Dhawan.

All the property settlements claimed by Ayesha Mukherji against Dhawan were ruled under threats, extortion, trickery and fraudulent action. She will now be paying AU$894,397 (₹5.7 crore) she had received as part of an interim settlement from the sale of an Australian property.

When all the charges were filed against Dhawan, he was quick to react. In his divorce, Dhawan stated that his wife began threatening to circulate “fabricated, defamatory and false” material to damage his reputation and cricket career.

What will be Next Step of Shikhar Dhawan’s Ex-Wife?

Ayesha Mukherji, with all sorts of trouble, has also been asked to pay an interest of 9 percent per annum on the amount since the time Dhawan instituted the suit. There are all possibilities that Mukherji might challenge the court’s order.

Ayesha Mukherji next step could be that she can move to the Supreme Court. This will put Dhawan under legal process yet again and all the cases will begin and there is even a possibility that things might go against the former Indian cricketer.

With a new marriage, luck has surely come Dhawan’s way. But with Mukherji is unlikely to pay this sum early. There are chances that the case might go to Supreme Court and run longer than expected.
