Tilak Varma Captain, Vaibhav Suryavanshi Earns Spot As Team India Squad REVEALED

India's young teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been rewarded for his outstanding performances in IPL 2026. Suryavanshi, who has emerged as one of the best batsmen in IPL over the last two years, has found a place in India A's squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka.

Middle order batter Tilak Varma will lead the team which includes several IPL starts like Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, and Anshul Kamboj. The squad looks solid as the players have been rewarded for their IPL performances.

Tilak Varma Appointed India A Captain

The decision to make Tilak Varma India captain shows the selectors' faith in his leadership. Tilak is already an integral part of India's T20I set-up but is yet to make a mark in ODIs. This series will be an excellent opportunity for him to make it into India's ODI team and stake a claim for the World Cup 2027.

Currently playing for Mumbai Indians, Tilak hasn't been at his absolute best but his international credentials are impressive. He is one of the best T20 batsmen going around and a dependable player in the middle order.

Meanwhile, it is a massive step for Vaibhav Suryavanshi India selection, who is still at the beginning of his career. The left-hander has impressed everyone with his fearless batting in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League and will have high expectations in this series as well.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi India debut is one of the most highly anticipated things in Indian cricket. Currently, he is batting at a strike rate close to 230 and is also a contender for IPL Orange Cap this season.

Apart from Suryavanshi, Punjab Kings openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have also earned a call-up for this series. Middle order batter Riyan Parag, who is leading Rajasthan Royals, has been appointed as the vice-captain.

Anshul Kamboj Rewarded For Excellent Bowling Display

Pacer Anshul Kamboj has also found a place in the squad after a wonderful IPL 2026 season. Kamboj has been amongst the wickets and is also a contender for IPL Purple cap this season. The other pacers in the squad are Arshad Khan, Yudhvir Singh, and Yash Thakur.

The tri-series involves two teams, Afghanistan A and hosts Sri Lanka A. It will be played from June 9 to June 21 in Dambulla. It is a great chance for these youngsters to push their cases for the next year's World Cup.
