Watch: Auqib Nabi Dismisses India Teammate To Pick Up Maiden County Wicket

India's pace bowling sensation Auqib Nabi has finally picked up his maiden wicket in the County Championship. Nabi achieved this feat while playing his first County game for Surrey against Yorkshire at The Oval.

During the 70th over of Yorkshire's innings, Auqib Nabi bowled a peach of delivery outside off stump to Kuldeep Yadav. The ball moved away a touch after pitching which Kuldeep edged through to Ollie Pope at second slip.

After Auqib Nabi first county wicket, the bowler breathed a sigh of relief. It was a decent outing from the talented India seamer, who bowled well but didn't get many wickets at one of the top cricket stadiums in England. He was finally rewarded with the wicket of his India teammate Kuldeep Yadav, who was furious with this dismissal.

Kuldeep looked solid during his 53-ball innings but was dismissed by Auqib for 17. The left-hander was completely outdone by a perfect delivery from the Jammu and Kashmir quick, who finished with 1-33 in 15 overs.

Excellent Opportunity For Auqib Nabi

The Surrey vs Yorkshire County cricket match is Auqib Nabi's first in the County championship. He came in as the first change and bowled well on a pitch covered with grass. The lack of wickets might not be the perfect reflection but Nabi bowled excellently on his County debut.

This is a great opportunity for Auqib Nabi to stake a claim in India's squad for the Test series in New Zealand later this year. The conditions here will be quite similar to that in New Zealand and will help him prepare well for the series.

The last few seasons have gone well for the J&K pacer, who has emerged to become one of the best bowlers in India. He received his maiden India call-up during the recently concluded Test series in Sri Lanka, where he replaced Jasprit Bumrah.

Currently, he doesn't seem to be in BCCI's scheme of things for the upcoming Test tours, however, he can aim for a spot in case of injury concerns to the other quicks. The conditions in New Zealand will suit his type of bowling and can be an important moment for his career.
