When was the Last Time India Got Enforced Follow on at Home?

India Follow on

The Indian Cricket Team and the South African Cricket Team are up against each other in the second match of the two-match Test series.

The game between the two teams is taking place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. South Africa has been at their best in the match. After winning the first match by 30 runs in Kolkata, the Proteas have carried on the same form in the ongoing match. Opting to bat, they piled up a massive total of 489 runs on the board.

And then after that, they have been sensational with the ball. Pacer Marco Jansen troubled the Indian batters with his short balls and has provided his team with crucial breakthroughs. India lost key batters in quick succession of time as the hosts were left reeling at 122 for seven. With the kind of poor batting show that India has come up with, along with South Africa’s ‘right on the money’ bowling, the match might see another follow on in cricket history and one of the rarest follow on in India for the hosts in their test cricket history

IND vs SA Follow on: Last Time India Got Enforced Follow on at Home?

India needs to go past 239 runs in their first innings to avoid a follow-on. However, that seems bleak. And if South Africa enforces follow-on, this will be only the second time in 15 years that hosts will face follow on in India.

The last time India were asked to follow on in a home test came in Nagpur in 2010 that too against South Africa. Notably, that was South Africa’s last win in India before the start of this series.
