However, Hardik has decided to sit out of the Baroda vs Jammu and Kashmir Vijay Hazare Trophy match. He is one of the best all-rounders in the world and will be an important player in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Why is Hardik Pandya Not Playing Today Match in Baroda vs Jammu and Kashmir VHT?

All-rounder Hardik Pandya represented Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Vidarbha on January 3, and he will also be available to feature against Chandigarh on January 8. However, he has decided to sit out on the January 6 fixture against Jammu & Kashmir.

The reason behind the decision is to ensure adequate rest and recovery between games so that he can carefully manage his fitness and be in all readiness for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand and the following mega event, which is the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The IND vs NZ series will begin on January 11 with the ODIs set to be played first.

Hardik Pandya Vijay Hazare Trophy participation was a standout moment for the state team as he put on a stunning show in his previous match against Vidarbha on January 3, 2026, scoring his first-ever List A century for Baroda. The all-rounder was on 66 runs from 62 balls before he surprised everyone by reaching his hundred in just one over with absolute power hitting.

In the 39th over, bowled by spinner Parth Rekhade, Pandya smashed five sixes in a row. On the last ball of the over, the shot didn’t come off the middle of the bat, but the ball still ran away to the boundary, helping him reach his century.

In Baroda's last match against Vidarbha, they finished their innings on 293/9, with Hardik Pandya scoring the bulk of the runs for the team. Vidarbha, however, came back strongly with the bat and chased down the target without much trouble. Their top order dominated the chase, reaching 296 for the loss of just one wicket and finishing the game with 50 balls remaining.
