Why Prasidh Krishna is Not Playing Today in IRE vs IND 2nd T20I?

India and Ireland are locking horns in the 2nd T20I of the series in Belfast, with the visitors aiming to bounce back after a disappointing defeat in the opening match.

India's newly appointed skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first as India look to keep the series alive. However, India decided to leave the fast bowler Prasidh Krishna out of the playing 11 with young pacer Prince Yadav making his T20I debut.

Why Prasidh Krishna is Not Playing Today?

Prasidh Krishna has been dropped from the IRE vs IND 2nd T20I after a forgettable outing in the series opener against Ireland. The right-arm pacer endured a torrid spell, conceding 57 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket, making it one of the most expensive spells by an Indian bowler in T20I history.

With India needing a stronger bowling performance in a must-win clash, the team management decided to bring in fresh legs. Hence, Prince Yadav was named as Prasidh Krishna replacement, who will also be making his T20I debut.

Prince has been in tremendous form recently. He impressed with his bowling during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) who didn't have a great tournament. However, Prince was the only positive for the franchise as he enjoyed a dream season.

Prasidh Krishna's Forgettable Outing During 1st T20I

Prasidh Krishna might be one of the best bowlers in India but it won't be wrong to say that his poor bowling display was one of the main reasons why the Men in Blue had to suffer an embarrassing loss against Ireland in the first match of the series.

Despite coming into the series after enjoying a dream run in IPL 2026, Krishna failed to replicate his form in the overseas Irish conditions and leaked runs at an embarrassing economy rate of 14.20. The pacer also enjoyed an excellent outing during the 3rd ODI against Afghanistan when he picked up a career best 5-23.

On the other hand, pacers like Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh impressed with their spells. Rana picked up three wickets in the match while only conceding only 24 runs in his four-over quota while Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets and leaked only 28 runs in 4 overs.
