Why Suryansh Shedge Made India Debut Before Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

Team India has been producing considerable amount of talents in the T20 format. Two of them, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Suryansh Shedge, are a part of India squad for the Ireland T20I series.

While everyone was anticipating Vaibhav Suryavanshi India debut in the second T20I at Belfast, it was the all-rounder Suryansh Shedge who got his maiden India cap. It was a massive moment for the talented all-rounder but it left everyone disappointed as their wait for Vaibhav's debut continues.

Why Suryansh Shedge Debuted Before Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

India have a settled opening pair in the form of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, who have done well for them in this format. Ishan Kishan is also in good form at the No. 3 spot. This makes Suryavanshi's inclusion into the Indian team difficult even though he has been performing well.

On the other hand, India needed a lower order batter after they failed to finish the game in the first T20I. All-rounder Washington Sundar wasn't at his best with either bat or ball. Hence, Suryansh Shedge was given a chance in the IRE vs IND 2nd T20I.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was selected in India's original squad for the Ireland T20I series but Suryansh Shedge wasn't a part of it initially. However, an injury to Nitish Kumar Reddy paved the way for Suryansh Shedge India debut.

Suryansh Shedge - A Rising Talent For India

Alongside Vaibhav, Shedge is also an exciting talent and one who can serve the Indian team for years to come. He is amongst the best all-rounders in India at the moment and could be groomed for the future.

Shedge proved to be expensive on his international debut as he returned figures of 0-25 in 2 overs. The right-hander bowled with good pace at around 130 kph but didn't pick up any wicket. But the eyes will be on his batting, a role that he is known for. He can score quick runs down the order and can also chip in with a few overs.
