Why did Shivam Dube Scold Rinku Singh During IND vs PAK T20 World Cup Match?

The Men in Blue managed to put up a total of 175-9 on the back of Ishan Kishan's brutal 77-run knock. Meanwhile, an unexpected moment happened during the latter stages of the first innings between Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube, which caught a lot of attention from the fans.

Why did Shivam Dube Scold Rinku Singh?

During the penultimate ball of the first innings of the IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026 match, Rinku Singh played a shot to the cover region. He ran for a single, but Dube thought that a second run might also be taken as well. A little hesitation and confusion between the two led to an awkward moment of indecision between the two batters.

By the time Dube realised, it was too late, and Mohammad Nawaz’s throw from mid-on was already on target. Pakistan wicketkeeper Usman Khan easily collected the ball and dislodged the bails with Dube short of his ground.

Dube looked visibly frustrated with Rinku Singh due to this hesitation and was even seen scolding him. It also seemed like Dube tried for the second run after a call from Rinku but was denied after he was way down the pitch.

There was a small scare Dube might have a hamstring issue, but he comfortably walked off the pitch. Shivam Dube run out caused two dot balls in the last over of the first innings, or else, India might even have touched 180. He got out for a valuable 27 off 17 balls. Meanwhile, Rinku, one of the best finishers in the world, scored a quickfire 11 off just 4 balls.

The Indian cricket team batted first and scored 175-7 in 20 overs. The innings started with a big blow for India as Abhishek Sharma registered his second duck of the tournament. However, Ishan Kishan took the matter into his own hands and showed why he is among the most dangerous batsmen in the world.

The star wicketkeeper-batter smashed a 27-ball fifty and was eventually dismissed for 77 runs off 40 balls. His knock included 10 fours and three sixes and it was his knock that created the difference in the end. However, the Men in Blue then failed to score runs at a good pace but a late finish from the batters Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rinku Singh helped the team to put 175 runs on the board.
