India's star opener Abhishek Sharma is the best T20 batsman in the world currently and probably a match-winner on his day. However, he was hospitalized on Monday due to a stomach infection and had to stay until Tuesday. According to PTI, he is unlikely to play the match against Namibia.

“Abhishek (Sharma) has been admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to stomach infection. Some tests are being done to ascertain the problem. It is still not clear whether he will be discharged today. But match against Namibia looks doubtful as of now,” said BCCI source as quoted by PTI.

The fans were sad to see Abhishek Sharma hospitalized and wished him well and speedy recovery on social media. Meanwhile, it is to be noted that the left-handed opener didn't come out to field against USA and India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had already mentioned that he is recovering from a stomach bug. But he was later admitted to the hospital.

The upcoming IND vs NAM T20 World Cup 2026 will be a crucial game for both teams. The Men in Blue will be looking to add another win to their group stage campaign and move one step closer to the Super 8 stage.

Who will be Abhishek Sharma Replacement Against Namibia?

Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is likely to become Abhishek Sharma's replacement for this match. Samson is one of the best wicketkeepers in India and also a talented opening batter. He can be a like-for-like replacement for Abhishek in this match.

Sanju was earlier considered to be the first-choice opener in India's 11 alongside Abhishek Sharma. However, his form dipped against New Zealand, prompting the team management to move towards Ishan Kishan, who had a terrific series with the bat.
