Will BCCI and ECB Arrange Special Dressing Room For Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

The Indian Cricket Team is all set to tour the UK, covering Ireland for a 2-match T20I series, followed by a white-ball series in England. The main spotlight of this India tour is not a new T20I captain, Shreyas Iyer, but a 15-year-old sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who could make a debut in this series and could become the youngest international cricketer to play for a full member nation since 1996.

The BCCI has taken all measures for young Vaibhav by allowing his parents to accompany him throughout the tour, which is generally not allowed. However, ahead of the series, it has been reported that Vaibhav Suryavanshi not allowed in changing room of the senior Indian Cricket Team as per the rules of ECB that prohibit under-16s from using adult changing rooms. This raised the question of whether a Vaibhav Suryavanshi Special Dressing Room should be created by the respective boards or not.

Will Both Cricket Boards Create a Vaibhav Suryavanshi Special Dressing Room?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi in ENG vs IND Series will be a treat to watch, where it will be interesting to see how he will take on against one of the best T20 teams in the world. However, there has been an issue about the changing room for Vaibhav Suryavanshi in England, where he will not be allowed being U-16 cricketer.

It is likely that both cricket boards, BCCI and ECB, will take proper measures to ensure Vaibhav's inclusivity in the match, where they could create a temporary dressing room for the youngster. As reported by the Guardian, “The ECB is working closely with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and all five T20 venues to ensure the appropriate measures are in place.”

However, ahead of the England tour, India will be playing the Ireland series, where Vaibhav will be allowed to use the same dressing room as others, because those matches are under the jurisdiction of Cricket Ireland and not under the ECB.

Has Any Player Given Special Dressing Room in Past?

While if we look into the history of players getting a special dressing room in the past, no cricketer got this special treatment, as the United Kingdom strictly looks into adult-minor separation in sports facilities, and this special dressing room facility could only be seen in the UK, where Arsenal's footballer Max Dowman was similarly provided with separate facilities until he turned 16.

However, no cricketer has been provided with this facility before Vaibhav, as the youngest international cricketer, Hasan Raza, who was picked against Bangladesh when he was a 14-year-old, was also not provided with these special facilities.
