The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not happy with the venue of the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting. The meeting is planned to take place on July 24 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. But a source says that the BCCI will “boycott” any decision if the meeting is held in Dhaka.

Team India to Pull Out of Asia Cup 2025 if...

Notably, India is also the host for the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament will be played in the T20 format. Six teams are expected to take part. But the tournament’s future is now uncertain. The ACC has not yet announced the schedule or the venue. While there are rumors that the tournament could take place in September, no official confirmation has been made yet.
Will India Play Asia Cup 2025?
The BCCI is not willing to travel to Dhaka for the ACC’s Annual General Meeting. According to a source, the BCCI had requested the ACC to change the meeting venue due to the geopolitical situation in South Asia. The BCCI has not yet received any response from the ACC.
The ACC is currently led by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s interior minister. According to ANI, a BCCI source claimed that Naqvi is putting “unnecessary pressure” on India to attend the meeting in Dhaka. However, the BCCI is firm that India will participate in Asia Cup only when the meeting venue is changed.
“Asia Cup can happen only if the meeting venue is changed. The ACC chairman is trying to force India into attending. But we won’t accept this. If the meeting is held in Dhaka, we will boycott all decisions made there,” the source was quoted as saying by ANI.
This is not the first time that India and Pakistan have had disagreements over cricket events. In 2023, India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. As a result, Sri Lanka was chosen as the neutral venue for India’s matches. Earlier in 2025, Pakistan hosted the ICC Champions Trophy. But India did not travel to Pakistan and played all their matches at a neutral venue in Dubai instead.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia on India's Asia Cup Participation
In May 2025, some reports on social media claimed that India would not take part in the upcoming Asia Cup and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. These reports said that the BCCI had informed the ACC about their withdrawal. However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia denied these claims and made it clear that the BCCI had not made any such decision. He also said that no talks had been held with the ACC regarding withdrawal from any event.
“These reports are false. We have not made any decision about skipping the Asia Cup or the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. These rumours are speculative and imaginary,” Saikia had said.
It is still unclear where the ACC meeting will take place. If it is held in Dhaka, the BCCI is likely to boycott it. This will affect India Asia Cup participation. The ACC must decide quickly as time is running out, and the tournament needs planning. The cricket boards of all six teams must agree on the schedule and venue soon. With political tensions in the background, the future of the Asia Cup 2025 is now hanging in the balance. The full Asia Cup schedule will be announced in a few days but there is still no clarity on India's particpation.
India and Bangladesh recently agreed to postpone India’s tour of Bangladesh. The series was supposed to happen in August 2025. But now it will be played in September 2026. This decision was made due to the current political situation in Bangladesh.
