Team India's star batter Virat Kohli arguably the fittest cricketer in the world. Even in his late 30s, he is still better than the majority of youngsters, which says a lot about the importance that he gives to fitness.

Kohli is often credited for changing the Indian team as he instilled the fitness culture in the side, making them one of the most lethal sides. Especially in Tests, he made India class apart as the side defeated many top teams in their own backyard.

Even in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kohli has been diving and jumping around. The batter is running faster than the youngsters and is setting up a great example for every player. Due to Virat Kohli fitness standards, he has received an invitation from India's hockey team.

Indian Hockey Team Invites Virat Kohli For a Training Session

In an interview with RCB recently, Virat Kohli spoke about his fitness and said that it is the norm for him. But, he also admitted that the fact that the fitness of cricket teams is not even 15% of the fitness of an Indian hockey player.

“I know people sometimes look at fitness as something extraordinary, but for me, it is what the job demands. It should be the norm, not something celebrated as special. Cricket is in such prime focus in our country that we often overlook other sports. If I am being honest, we aren't even 15% of the fitness of an Indian hockey player. If the hockey players watch our training sessions, they would laugh because their sport demands far more," Kohli said.

The Indian hockey players acknowledged Virat Kohli’s comments, saying that they want to invite the legendary Indian cricketer and the entire RCB team for a training session.

"Obviously. We want to invite Virat and the entire RCB team to come and do a training session with us. We will compete against each other,” Manpreet said while speaking to RevSportz.

Will Virat Kohli Train With Indian Hockey Team?

Although, there is no official confirmation, there are chances of Virat Kohli training with hockey team. With both Manpreet and Kohli sharing great camaraderie, there are chances that they will train together someday. Recently, Kohli met some of the top Indian hockey players like captain Harmanpreet Singh during an ad shoot as well.

The cross-sport camaraderie is quite rare in Indian sports and if this collaboration happens, it will only help in taking it forward. Hockey, being a fast-paced sport, requires optimum levels of fitness, along with the skill. As a result, competing with any hockey player in the world isn't easy when it comes to fitness. However, the fans would love to watch one of the best cricketers in the world compete with India's hockey team.

For now, Kohli is busy in the IPL 2026 sseason. He is living up to the expectations of the player with the most runs in IPL as he is RCB's highest run-scorer this season with 542 runs in 13 matches at an average of 54.20 and a strike rate of 164.74. He played a key role in RCB becoming the first team to qualfy for the playoffs this season.
