Will Yashasvi Jaiswal Play Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26?

After the enthralling Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26, it’s now time for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. The tournament will begin on December 24 and will be played for around a month with the final set to be played on January 18.

Coming to the Mumbai team, they will open their campaign against Sikkim as they are placed in Group C of the tournament. Their last league game will be against Punjab on January 8. They would be keen to win all these games and qualify for the knockouts after missing out in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Health Update

Mumbai had a decent outing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26. They won two out of their three games in the Super League stage of the tournament but missed out on the final by a margin of NRR. This came as a massive heartbreak for captain Shardul Thakur, who also thrashed the NRR.

During their last game of the SMAT 2026, Mumbai also faced a massive blow. Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of the best openers in the world right now, was rushed to the hospital after he faced severe pain in his stomach.

During the course of the entire game, Jaiswal was in pain but it got worse by the time the game ended. He was admitted to the hospital, where he underwent a CT scan and an ultrasound. Later, he was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

As per the reports in The Times of India, it is learned that Yashasvi Jaiswal has been discharged from the hospital but has lost 2kg in weight. He has been advised to complete rest by the doctors as he recovers from food poisoning.

"It is food poisoning. He ate something in the Pune hotel, which has led to this. There was pain but the condition is much better after timely medication. He has lost over 2 kgs already in the last two days and the doctors have asked him to rest at least for the next 7-10 days," said a source close to BCCI.

With Yashasvi Jaiswal being advised to complete rest, the reports claimed that the batter will miss the first few matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. The source said that the batter might not turn up for the first few games of the tournament but will be there for the New Zealand ODIs.

“It will be touch and go for the first few matches for him to turn up for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. There are ODIs vs New Zealand after that too and he is likely to be in the squad for that series,” the source added while speaking on Yashasvi Jaiswal Vijay Hazare Trophy presence.

Jaiswal looked in terrific touch in the 50-over format for India in the series against South Africa and showed the capabilities of becoming the best ODI batsman in the future. He slammed an unbeaten 116 in the last match and ended the series with 156 runs across three matches at an average of 78 and a strike rate of 89.14.
