KKR IPL Champion's Father-in-Law and Son Arrested Amidst IPL 2026

The family member of former Kolkata Knight Riders star and current MP Yusuf Pathan is in the news for a troubling reason. Yusuf Pathan’s father-in-law, Khalid Khan, and his son, Umarshad Khan, were arrested by the Mumbai Police following the violent road rage incident in the Byculla area.

The Yusuf Pathan family arrest took place while the Indian Premier League 2026 is currently going on. It involved a physical assault over a minor dispute and has drawn significant attention as Pathan remains a highly respected figure in the IPL as well as in Indian cricket. Apart from being a former cricketer, Pathan is also a Member of Parliament from Baharampur constituency in West Bengal, India.

Reason Behind Yusuf Pathan Family Arrest

The Yusuf Pathan controversy news ignited when a local driver accidentally splashed water from a puddle onto a relative of the Khan family. Even though the driver stopped to apologize for the accident, the situation quickly became aggressive. A relative of Yusuf Pathan father in law allegedly attacked the driver’s vehicle and smashed the windshield with a stick, causing the initial confrontation to spiral out of control.

The conflict moved to a second stage when the driver and his family tried to head to the police station to file a formal complaint. They were blocked on the road by a group of people that included Khalid Khan and Umarshad Khan.

The group launched a physical attack on the family using bamboo sticks and a baseball bat. The assault was severe enough to cause serious injuries, including a fractured hand for one of the victims and head injuries for another.

Currently, nothing has been said from Yusuf as well as Irfan Pathan, regarding this matter. It is to be noted that both Irfan and Yusuf have played for India and won several matches with their exhilarating batting displays. They are amongst the most famous pairs of brothers in cricket.

Yusuf Pathan's Legacy in the IPL

Right from the beginning, Yusuf Pathan established himself as a clean striker of the ball. He is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous batsmen in IPL history. He played a major role in Rajasthan Royals' title-winning run in IPL 2008. In the final of the season, he was named the "Player of the Match" for his brilliant all-round performance, which included picking up three wickets and scoring a brisk half-century.

His legendary status only grew when he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders. Pathan was a core member of the KKR squad that lifted the IPL trophy in both 2012 and 2014. One of his most iconic moments came in 2014 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he smashed a 15-ball half-century, which at the time was the fastest 50 in IPL history. His last IPL appearance came in 2019 for SRH. In 2021, Pathan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, including the IPL.
