Memphis Depay OUT From Netherlands WC Qualifiers Squad, Koeman's Verdict on His Future

The Netherlands have announced its 25-man squad for the upcoming European World Cup qualifiers during the November international break. Ronald Koeman's coached Oranje will lock horns against Poland and Lithuania in Group C, to ensure their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, the most notable absentee from the Dutch squad is none other than their all-time top scorer, Memphis Depay.
The former Manchester United forward has been omitted from the team list announced, raising speculations over his indisciplinary actions and recent controversies that Depay has been strangled into. During the last International break, the 31-year-old, was at the centre of the fuss; after the Dutchman was late to report to the national team camp in October. Reportedly, Depay lost his passport in Brazil, where he plays his club football for the Brazilian club Corinthians.
Regardless, Memphis has been a key player for the Netherlands' men's national team, having already made 11 goal contributions in just 6 appearances in the 2026 European World Cup Qualification campaign. Therefore, his absence comes as a shock to many. Memphis Depay recently achieved the milestone of being the Netherlands' all-time top goal scorer with 56 goals in 106 international caps. Not only that, the forward was accused of impregnating a Brazilian influencer Lary Simoes and reportedly snubbed her after meeting him at a party.
