The Barcelona vs PSG clash on Matchday 2 of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League was the most hyped up fixture, featuring several players ranked in the top 10 of the 2025 Ballon d’Or standings. However, Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, along with Desire Doue and João Neves, were absent from the match at Montjuïc Stadium. Barcelona, who looked strong on paper, dominated the first 30 minutes, capitalizing with a goal sparked by a brilliant first-touch pass from Marcus Rashford. PSG, fielding a youthful squad, gradually found their rhythm, putting Barcelona on the defensive. Experienced stars Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi stepped up, creating key opportunities for their young teammates. One such chance was seized by Mbyulu, who clinically converted in the 38th minute to level the score.

Barcelona Player Ratings vs PSG

Here are Barcelona Player Ratings vs PSG

Goalkeeper

Wojciech Szczesny - 7.0: The keeper made five saves, and a couple of them were top-drawer. He couldn't have done much for either of the goals he conceded. What stood out to us was his save from Hakimi's long-range effort. It was a solid, if ultimately frustrating, evening for the Polish international. He commanded his area well enough.

Defenders

Jules Koundé - 5.5: A difficult night for the Frenchman. He was dribbled past twice and seemed to struggle with the pace of PSG's attack. He lost possession nine times, which is just too much at this level. We noticed his frustration growing as the game wore on. He won a decent number of tackles but it wasn't enough to feel secure.

Pau Cubarsí - 6.0: The youngster showed his class on the ball with 93% passing accuracy. Defensively, however, he looked a little raw. He was part of a backline that was breached twice. He made a crucial block but also got dribbled past. A learning experience for the talented defender against a top-tier attack.

Eric García - 6.5: He was having a pretty decent game before his injury. His passing from the back was progressive and accurate. He made a couple of important tackles and clearances. It was a real shame he had to come off. You have to wonder if the late goal would have happened with him on the pitch.

Gerard Martín - 6.5: A solid defensive showing from the fullback. He won all his tackles and made some key clearances. He was maybe a bit too conservative going forward. We didn't see much of him in the final third. His substitution seemed more tactical than performance-based.

Midfielders

Frenkie de Jong - 6.0: A surprisingly quiet game from the captain. He picked up a silly yellow card and just couldn't seem to get a grip on the midfield. His passing was tidy as usual, but it lacked penetration. From our perspective, Barcelona needed more from their leader on a night like this. He seemed a step off the pace.

Pedri - 7.5: A joy to watch before he was substituted. He was the creative spark in midfield, with near-perfect passing and some lovely dribbles. He won an incredible nine duels, showing his bite off the ball too. Barcelona's control waned significantly after he left the field. His early exit was a massive blow.

Lamine Yamal - 8.0: Barcelona's most dangerous player by a country mile. Every time he got the ball, you felt something could happen. His four successful dribbles caused constant problems for Nuno Mendes. The only criticism is his finishing. He was wasteful, with three shots off target. Still, he was the main source of inspiration for his team.

Dani Olmo - 5.5: A really poor performance from him. He missed a big chance and his decision-making was often questionable. He got a yellow card and lost the majority of his duels. It was no surprise to see him hooked in the second half. He just never looked comfortable and couldn't impact the game at all.

Forwards

Ferran Torres - 7.0: He got his goal with a composed finish which was a big plus. But it was a mixed-bag performance. He also missed a big chance and lost the ball 14 times. You love that he gets into scoring positions. But his all-around game needs to be cleaner. He worked hard but the end product wasn't always there.

Marcus Rashford - 6.5: Provided the assist for the opening goal, which he deserves credit for. Beyond that, he was largely anonymous. From our perspective, he drifted in and out of the game too much. He only had 37 touches before being substituted. We expected more from a player of his calibre.

Substitutes

Robert Lewandowski - 6.0: Came on for Rashford but barely got a sniff of the ball. The game passed him by.

Marc Casadó - 5.5: Replaced Olmo and picked up a yellow card almost immediately. Didn't add much stability.

Alejandro Balde - 6.0: Came on for Martín. PSG's winner came down his side, though it wasn't directly his fault.

Marc Bernal - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Andreas Christensen - N/A: Late replacement for the injured García.

Manager

H. Flick - 6.0: His team started well and scored, but couldn't hold onto the lead. The decision to take off Pedri, even if pre-planned, backfired as Barça lost control. His substitutions didn't have the desired impact. Ultimately, his team was outdone by a late goal, raising questions about game management.

Here are PSG Player Ratings vs Barcelona

Goalkeeper

Lucas Chevalier - 6.0: He couldn't do anything about the goal. Otherwise, he had very little to do. Barcelona's poor finishing meant he wasn't really tested. A quiet night for the PSG keeper. He'll take the win and move on without much fuss.

Defenders

Achraf Hakimi - 8.5: Our man of the match. An absolutely electric performance from the right-back. He provided an assist, was a constant threat going forward and solid at the back. He recovered the ball eight times and even made a clearance off the line. He was the complete package tonight and a true leader on the pitch. His energy was infectious.

Ilya Zabarnyi - 7.5: A rock at the back for PSG. His pass accuracy was an incredible 98%. He made a goal-saving clearance off the line and was dominant in his duels. He even missed a big chance from a corner. A really commanding display that will have impressed many.

Willian Pacho - 7.0: Composed and assured alongside Zabarnyi. His passing was crisp and he made several key interceptions and clearances. He didn't put a foot wrong all night. A very reliable performance that provided the foundation for PSG's attacks. He was very tidy in possession.

Nuno Mendes - 8.0: What a performance. He got the assist for the equalizer and created four chances in total. He was a menace down the left flank all game. Lamine Yamal gave him a tough time defensively, but Mendes gave as good as he got going the other way. He was relentless.

Midfielders

Vitinha - 6.0: A chaotic and confusing performance. He recovered the ball a staggering 11 times. But he also lost it 14 times and made an error that led to a goal-scoring opportunity. It's hard to rate him. He was everywhere, for better and for worse. His energy is undeniable but the lack of composure was costly at times.

Fabián Ruiz - 6.5: A solid, if unspectacular, outing. He kept things ticking over in midfield and made some important ball recoveries. He didn't offer a huge threat going forward but did his defensive duties well. A typical workhorse performance before being subbed.

Warren Zaïre-Emery - 6.0: We expected more from the young prodigy. He was very quiet by his high standards. He struggled to impose himself on the game and was a bit loose in possession. Not a bad performance, just an anonymous one. He'll have much better nights.

Forwards

Senny Mayulu - 7.5: Took his goal really well to get PSG back in the game. He looked sharp and dangerous throughout his time on the pitch. He was a constant nuisance for the Barcelona defence. A very impressive showing that was capped off with a crucial goal.

Bradley Barcola - 6.0: A frustrating night for him. He worked hard and got into good positions but his final product was lacking. He missed a big chance that he really should have buried. He lost the ball far too often. It just wasn't his day in front of goal.

Ibrahim Mbaye - 6.5: Had a good shot saved by Szczesny and was a physical presence up top. He won most of his duels and held the ball up well. He linked play effectively before being substituted. A decent shift from the forward.

Substitutes

Lucas Hernández - 6.0: Came on and provided defensive solidity. Didn't do anything spectacular but helped see out the win.

Gonçalo Ramos - 9.0: The match-winner. What an impact. He came on and scored the decisive goal with a great finish. You can't ask for more from a substitute. He changed the entire result of the game.

Quentin Ndjantou - N/A: Came on late, not enough time to make an impact.

Lee Kang-In - 7.5: Another super sub. He came on and was instantly involved, creating two chances and rattling the crossbar. He was electric and added a different dimension to PSG's attack.

Manager

L. Martínez García - 7.5: His team went behind but showed great character to fight back. His substitutions were game-changing. Bringing on Ramos and Lee Kang-In proved to be a masterstroke. He got his tactics spot on in the second half to snatch a huge away win.
