Crystal Palace Vs Sunderland Player Ratings

In Gameweek 4 of the Premier League, Crystal Palace took on newly promoted Sunderland in a match that struggled to give joy to the viewers in the first half. Both teams found it tough to take control in the first half, with neither side able to reach the penalty box or create real goal-scoring chances. The game was stuck in the midfield, with nearly half of all passes happening in the central area. A dull game, full of lost possession, ended with no goals, leaving the score at 0-0.

Crystal Palace dominated possession and created the better chances throughout the match. Yet, they found Sunderland's goalkeeper, Robin Roefs, in simply unbeatable form. He single-handedly kept his team in the game with a series of spectacular saves, particularly in a frantic second half.

What stood out to us was the sheer profligacy of the Palace attackers. Players like Yeremy Pino and Jean Mateta seemed to leave their shooting boots at home. For all their intricate build-up play in this Premier League fixture, the final product was sorely lacking. The Black Cats, on the other hand, will travel back north absolutely delighted with a hard-earned point.

Crystal Palace Player Ratings vs Sunderland

Here are the Crystal Palace Player Ratings vs Sunderland

Goalkeeper

Dean Henderson - 6.5: Honestly, he had one of the quietest afternoons of his career. Sunderland barely tested him, and he was more of a spectator for large spells. He did what little was asked of him without any fuss. A straightforward day at the office.

Defenders

Maxence Lacroix - 7.0: A very composed and tidy performance. His passing was impressively accurate, helping build attacks from the back. We noticed he was rarely troubled by the opposition forwards. A solid showing.

Marc Guéhi - 7.0: The captain led by example. He was commanding, organised the defence well, and looked comfortable throughout. He’ll be annoyed he didn't convert a late header from a corner, but his defensive work was spot on.

Chris Richards - 6.5: He had a few tricky moments, getting dribbled past a couple of times. However, he generally recovered well and made some important clearances. Not his best game, but he didn't do much wrong either.

Midfielders

Daniel Muñoz - 6.0: A day to forget for the midfielder. He picked up a deserved yellow card early on and seemed a bit off the pace. He won a good number of aerial duels but struggled to impose himself on the game.

Tyrick Mitchell - 6.5: Provided decent width down the left. He was solid defensively making a couple of good tackles but his final ball lacked a bit of quality. A pretty standard performance, nothing spectacular.

Jefferson Lerma - 6.5: A typical industrious performance from Lerma before he was substituted. He broke up play effectively and kept things simple. Did his job without pulling up any trees.

Will Hughes - 6.0: He was busy and tried to link play, but it just didn't come off for him. He lost possession far too often for our liking. His crossing was particularly wayward, which was a source of frustration.

Forwards

Yéremy Pino - 5.0: It was a really poor outing for him. He was incredibly wasteful, missing two big chances that could have won his team the game. From our perspective, he was the worst performer on the pitch and looked completely devoid of confidence.

Jean-Philippe Mateta - 5.5: He got into some great positions, but his finishing let him down badly. He had two shots on target but should have buried at least one. Another forward who will be having nightmares about this game.

Daichi Kamada - 7.0: He looked like the only Crystal Palace attacker who might actually score. He tested the goalkeeper with a couple of good strikes and created a big chance for a teammate. A bright spark on a dull day for the forwards.

Manager

O. Glasner - 6.0: His game plan to dominate the match worked, as his side controlled possession and territory. However, he couldn't find a way to get his forwards firing. He must be immensely frustrated with the lack of a clinical edge from his team.

Here are the Sunderland Player Ratings vs Crystal Palace

Goalkeeper

Robin Roefs - 9.0: An absolutely colossal performance. Man of the match, and it wasn't even close. He made six saves, several of them spectacular, to single-handedly earn his team a point. His saves in the final 20 minutes were world-class. The highest-rated player on the pitch by a mile.

Defenders

Omar Alderete - 7.5: A warrior at the back. He read the game brilliantly, making three interceptions and several crucial clearances. He was composed on the ball and stood strong against the wave of Palace attacks. A fantastic defensive display.

Reinildo Mandava - 7.0: Tough and tenacious. He won the majority of his duels and wasn't afraid to get stuck in. What stood out to us was his energy to get forward and support the attack when possible. Really solid.

Nordi Mukiele - 7.5: Excellent performance from the defender. He was a calming presence, making six clearances and winning his battles. He organised the backline superbly and was a key reason for the clean sheet.

Trai Hume - 7.0: A tireless worker down the right flank. While his passing was a little erratic at times, his defensive contribution was immense. He won seven of his nine duels and never stopped running for the team.

Midfielders

Habib Diarra - 6.0: He put in a shift but struggled to make a real impact on the game. He gave away a few cheap fouls and was often chasing shadows. A frustrating day for him, but the effort was there.

Noah Sadiki - 7.0: Looked very bright and dynamic before an injury concern seemed to slow him down. He drew three fouls and was a real nuisance with his driving runs. It was a shame his influence faded as the game went on.

Granit Xhaka - 7.5: A true captain's display. He dominated the midfield battle, especially in the air where he was immense. He broke up play, dictated the tempo when he could, and led with real authority. A huge performance.

Forwards

Chemsdine Talbi - 6.5: He was quite isolated for most of the match. We noticed some neat touches and he did create one chance, but he was feeding off scraps. A tough assignment that he handled with professionalism.

Wilson Isidor - 6.0: He worked hard and had a couple of half-chances but never really looked like scoring. He battled with the defenders but often came off second best. Lacked that cutting edge.

Simon Adingra - 6.5: Looked lively during his time on the pitch. His pace caused a few problems for the Palace defence, and he looked like Sunderland's most likely source of a goal before being substituted. A decent showing.

Manager

R. Le Bris - 7.5: He'll be absolutely delighted. He set his team up to be defensively solid and hard to beat, and it worked to perfection. His players fought for every ball and executed his game plan brilliantly to secure a massive away point.
