Celtic Player Ratings vs Feyenoord

Goalkeeper

Kasper Schmeichel - 7.0: He was left completely exposed for the opening goal, no chance at all. After that, he was commanding. Made three important saves, including a crucial one from Ayase Ueda in the first half. His distribution was solid, and he marshaled his defense well under pressure. A calm head when it was needed most.

Defenders

Liam Scales - 7.0: A real warrior at the back. He won a staggering six aerial duels and made ten clearances. Yes he was dribbled past once, but overall he was a rock. What stood out to us was his composure on the ball, completing 96% of his passes. A very solid performance.

Auston Trusty - 6.5: A mixed bag for Trusty. His passing was near-perfect which helped build from the back. However, he struggled in his physical duels, winning only two out of five. He did make a last-man tackle which was absolutely vital, but he looked a little shaky at times.

Colby Donovan - 6.5: We noticed he lost possession far too often, 18 times to be exact. That's a huge number. But on the flip side, he was a threat going forward, completing three successful dribbles and getting into good positions. An adventurous but sometimes risky display.

Kieran Tierney - 6.0: This wasn't the Tierney we know. He looked a yard off the pace. His crossing was unusually poor, with only one of five finding its target. He was withdrawn after 70 minutes, and it felt like the right call. A quiet and somewhat disappointing night for him.

Midfielders

Hyun-jun Yang - 7.5: Scored the all-important equalizer with a poacher's finish. He was a bundle of energy down the flank, contributing defensively with tackles and interceptions. His work rate was infectious before he was substituted. A great contribution to the comeback.

Luke McCowan - 6.5: He had a steady game without being spectacular. He worked hard, won most of his duels, and drew a couple of clever fouls to relieve pressure. He played his part before being taken off just after the hour mark. Solid, if unspectacular.

Arne Engels - 7.0: A proper midfield battle from Engels. He was tenacious, winning all three of his tackles and making his presence felt. He also got forward to test the keeper once. The yellow card was the only blemish on a very combative and effective performance.

Reo Hatate - 9.0: Our Man of the Match, without a shadow of a doubt. This was a masterclass. He scored a stunning goal from distance and provided a crucial assist. He was the heartbeat of the team, recovering the ball seven times and driving his team forward. A truly dominant, highest-rated player performance.

Callum McGregor - 7.0: The captain led by example. He was calm in possession, recycling the ball with 92% pass accuracy. Made a crucial clearance off the line that was as good as a goal. He kept the midfield ticking over and provided the stability that allowed others to shine. The booking was unnecessary, though.

Forwards

Daizen Maeda - 8.5: What an engine this man has. He didn't find the net himself, but he was the provider-in-chief with two fantastic assists. His relentless running and pressing caused endless problems for the Feyenoord defence. An absolutely selfless and tireless display that was critical to the win.

Substitutes

Benjamin Nygren - 7.5: The dream impact. Came on and scored a well-taken goal to kill the game off. You can't ask for more from a substitute. He looked sharp and hungry from the moment he stepped on the pitch.

Dane Murray - 6.0: Replaced Tierney and shored things up. Didn't do anything spectacular but he didn't make any mistakes either. A steady presence to see out the game.

Sebastian Tounekti - 6.0: Brought on to offer fresh legs and did his job. Didn't have a huge amount of time to influence the game in an attacking sense but worked hard.

Manager

M. O'Neill - 8.0: He deserves immense credit. His team went a goal down early in a hostile environment but he kept them calm. His trust in his players paid off. The substitutions were spot on, with Nygren's goal being the cherry on top. A great tactical victory.

Feyenoord Player Ratings vs Celtic

Goalkeeper

Timon Wellenreuther - 5.0: A very poor performance from the keeper. The error leading to a goal was simply inexcusable at this level. He only made one save all game. From our perspective, his confidence looked shot after the mistake, and it spread uncertainty through his defence. A night he'll want to forget quickly.

Defenders

Tsuyoshi Watanabe - 6.5: He passed the ball well and was strong in the air. But he's part of a defensive unit that conceded three goals at home. He also missed a big chance from a set-piece which could have been a different story. Decent individually, but the collective failed.

Gijs Smal - 6.0: It was a tough night for Smal. He struggled to contain Celtic's attacks down his flank and offered very little going forward. His evening was cut short by injury, which summed up a frustrating outing.

Anel Ahmedhodzic - 7.0: Probably Feyenoord's best defender. He won every single one of his duels which is an incredible statistic. He was composed, strong, and tried to drive his team on. It felt like he was fighting a losing battle on his own at times.

Jordan Lotomba - 6.0: He was busy but ultimately ineffective. He got into some good positions but his final ball was lacking. Defensively, he was caught out a few times. Not his best game in a Feyenoord shirt.

Midfielders

Sem Steijn - 7.0: The captain started brightly, setting up the opening goal with a clever pass. He looked like he could make things happen. However, as Celtic's midfield took control, his influence waned significantly. He kept trying but couldn't unlock the defense again.

Oussama Targhalline - 6.5: A destroyer in midfield who did his job reasonably well. He made some important tackles and interceptions. But on the ball, he was too safe and lacked the creativity to hurt Celtic. A solid but limited performance.

Luciano Valente - 6.5: He showed some nice touches and had a good engine. Got a shot on target and won his share of duels. Like his midfield partners, though, he was ultimately outplayed by the opposition. A decent effort but not enough.

Forwards

Ayase Ueda - 7.0: A truly frustrating player to watch. He took his goal magnificently and looked like a real threat. But he then proceeded to miss three big chances. If he had been more clinical, the result could have been very different. The hero and villain of his own story.

Leo Sauer - 5.5: A really quiet game for the attacker. He was dispossessed three times and failed to make any real impact. His night ended early with an injury, capping a forgettable performance. He'll be disappointed with his contribution.

Anis Hadj Moussa - 7.5: Feyenoord's brightest spark by a country mile. He created an astonishing four chances, including three gilt-edged ones for his teammates. It felt like if anything was going to happen for the home side, it would come through him. His teammates' wasteful finishing let him down badly.

Substitutes

Gaoussou Diarra - 6.5: Came on and added a bit of energy. Was unlucky to see his header come back off the crossbar. He looked lively and tried to make something happen.

Bart Nieuwkoop - 6.0: Replaced the injured Smal and was solid enough. He didn't make any glaring errors but couldn't turn the tide of the game.

Quinten Timber - N/A: Brought on with less than 15 minutes to go and couldn't get into the rhythm of the match.

Shaqueel van Persie - N/A: A late cameo with the game already lost.

Manager

R. van Persie - 5.5: His team had the perfect start but then completely fell apart. Defensively, they looked disorganized and vulnerable. In attack, they were incredibly wasteful. He couldn't find a way to counter Celtic's midfield dominance, and his side was deservedly beaten. A tough lesson for the young manager.

Sportsdunia’s Player of the Match goes to Reo Hatate.
