Porto 3-0 Nice Player Ratings: Gabri Veiga Helps Hosts Claim Dominant Win in UEL

8 min
Porto vs Nice Player Ratings

Porto made a powerful start in their Europa League match at the Estádio do Dragão. They scored within the first minute, setting the tone for a one-sided contest. Nice struggled from that moment and never found their rhythm.

Porto controlled the game with sharp passing and strong movement. Gabri Veiga added a second goal before the break, highlighting their dominance. The Nice defense was easily opened up, and Porto created chances with little resistance.

The second half brought more of the same. A penalty converted by Samu Aghehowa made it 3–0 and ended any hope of a Nice comeback. Nice worked hard but lacked quality in attack. Porto were clearly the better team and fully deserved their victory.

Porto Player Ratings vs Nice

Check out Porto Player Ratings from Porto vs Nice game:

Goalkeeper

Diogo Costa - 7.0: Honestly, he had very little to do for most of the game. Nice rarely tested him with anything meaningful. He was tidy with his distribution, starting attacks from the back with a high pass accuracy. Claimed a few crosses and commanded his area well when called upon. It was about as comfortable a night as a goalkeeper could ask for.

Defenders

Jakub Kiwior - 7.5: A really solid and composed performance at the back. He was a rock, making key interceptions and clearances. His passing was exceptional, rarely giving the ball away and even launching a few attacks. We noticed he was calm under pressure, which spread confidence across the backline. A very mature display.

Pablo Rosario - 7.0: Played his part in a defense that was barely troubled. He was strong in the tackle and read the game well, making four interceptions. His use of the ball was excellent, particularly his long passing which helped switch the play effectively. A steady and reliable presence throughout the match.

Alberto Costa - 7.5: What an energetic performance. He was a machine down the flank, winning an incredible 11 duels. He defended resolutely and was a constant outlet in attack, getting forward to support the midfielders. From our perspective, his work rate was immense and he gave the Nice winger no joy whatsoever.

Francisco Moura - 7.0: A very tidy performance. He was defensively sound and contributed to the attack with some neat passes and a key pass. He didn't have to do a ton of defending but what he did, he did well. Kept possession effectively and showed good awareness to snuff out danger before it developed.

Midfielders

Victor Froholdt - 7.5: A really bright and creative display from the midfielder. He provided a brilliant assist for Veiga's second goal, showing great vision. He was tidy in possession and made some important interceptions to break up Nice's play. Looked like a player full of confidence before being substituted.

Gabri Veiga - 9.5: Simply sensational. This was his game. He scored two goals, one with his right and one with his left, showing incredible finishing ability. His first goal inside a minute set the tone for the entire match. Beyond the goals, his movement and control were on another level. The highest-rated player on the pitch by a mile and a truly world-class performance.

Alan Varela - 6.0: His evening was unfortunately cut short by an injury just before halftime. Before that, he was doing a decent job of controlling the tempo in midfield. His passing was crisp and accurate. It's tough to give a higher rating given his limited minutes, but he looked comfortable.

Forwards

Samu Aghehowa - 8.0: A real handful for the Nice defenders. He won the penalty with his clever movement and then showed immense composure to slot it home. He was a constant threat, winning duels and drawing fouls. His hold-up play was strong, bringing his teammates into the game effectively. A great all-round striker's performance.

Pepê - 7.5: Provided the assist for the opening goal with a lovely pass. He was a livewire throughout, buzzing around the final third and causing problems. He was always looking to create and his link-up play with Veiga and Aghehowa was a joy to watch. A very influential display.

Deniz Gül - 6.0: It was a quiet night for the attacker. While his teammates ran riot, he struggled to get involved in the game. He didn't make a significant impact and was eventually substituted. Not a bad performance, but he was on the periphery of the action.

Substitutes

Jan Bednarek - 6.0: Came on at halftime and helped see out the clean sheet. Picked up a yellow card but was otherwise solid.

Borja Sainz - N/A: Didn't have enough time or involvement to warrant a rating.

Luuk de Jong - N/A: Came on late with the game already won.

Rodrigo Mora - 6.5: Looked lively when he came on and almost scored with a good shot from distance.

Stephen Eustaquio - N/A: A late substitute to help see out the game.

Manager

F. Farioli - 8.5: Got his tactics absolutely spot on. His team started with incredible intensity and never let up. The decision to press high from the start paid off immediately. He completely out-thought his counterpart, and his team executed the game plan to perfection. A flawless night's work.

Nice Player Ratings vs Porto

Check out Nice Player Ratings from Porto vs Nice UEFA Europa League game:

Goalkeeper

Yehvann Diouf - 5.0: A tough, tough night for the keeper. He conceded three goals but couldn't do much about any of them, they were all clinical finishes. He made a couple of routine saves but looked a little shaky at times. What stood out was his high number of ball recoveries, which shows how much pressure he was under.

Defenders

Dante - 4.0: A disastrous performance from the veteran captain. He was run ragged by Porto's forwards and looked his age. Committing three fouls, he then gave away a clumsy penalty that completely killed the game. From our perspective, it was a display to forget and he was rightly substituted.

Melvin Bard - 5.5: He had a lot of touches but struggled to make a positive impact. He was often on the back foot and lost possession far too many times. Made a few interceptions but was part of a defense that was completely overwhelmed by Porto's attacking prowess. A difficult evening.

Antoine Mendy - 6.0: Probably the best of a bad bunch at the back. He won all his duels and made three successful tackles, showing some fight. He even got forward and had a shot that went just wide. However, he also picked up a yellow card and was part of a defense that shipped three goals.

Jonathan Clauss - 5.5: A quiet and ineffective game. He failed to provide his usual attacking threat down the wing and was often caught out defensively. He was dribbled past twice and struggled to contain Porto's wide players. Substituted late on after failing to make an impression.

Midfielders

Ali Abdi - 6.5: One of the few Nice players who can hold their head up high. He never stopped trying and created two chances for his teammates. He battled hard in the middle, winning a decent number of duels. Despite the result, his effort levels were commendable, but he lacked quality support.

Morgan Sanson - 6.5: He was a fighter in a losing battle. He drew an impressive five fouls, showing how he was trying to disrupt Porto's rhythm. Had a couple of shots blocked and was constantly trying to get on the ball. It was a frustrating night for him, but he didn't hide.

Sofiane Diop - 5.0: A very disappointing display. He lost possession a staggering 14 times and missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half. He was busy and recovered the ball a lot, but his final product was severely lacking. He committed four fouls out of frustration before being substituted.

Charles Vanhoutte - 5.5: Worked hard but was largely anonymous. He was neat in possession but offered very little penetration or creativity. Picked up a yellow card for a cynical foul and struggled to cope with the movement of Porto's midfield. An industrious but ultimately ineffective performance.

Forwards

Terem Moffi - 5.0: Completely isolated and starved of service. He only had 11 touches in his 68 minutes on the pitch. He did have one shot that went off target but was otherwise a spectator for most of the game. It’s hard to be too critical when your team offers so little support.

Mohamed-Ali Cho - 5.5: Like his strike partner, he had a very quiet game. He tried to make things happen with a couple of dribbles but was well-marshalled by the Porto defense. He only had 14 touches, which tells the story of his lack of involvement. A frustrating night for the young forward.

Substitutes

Kevin Carlos - 5.5: Came on and missed a big chance to get a consolation goal, blazing over from a good position.

Hicham Boudaoui - 6.0: Added a bit of energy but the game was long gone by the time he came on.

Isak Jansson - 6.5: Looked quite lively, creating a couple of chances for his teammates after coming on.

Kojo Peprah Oppong - N/A: Not enough time to make an impact.

Tiago Gouveia - N/A: A late cameo with the match already decided.

Manager

F. Haise - 4.5: His team was completely outplayed from the first minute to the last. They looked unprepared for Porto's intensity and their defensive setup was shambolic. The substitutions did little to change the flow of the game. A very poor showing and a night he will want to analyze and forget quickly.

Sportsdunia’s Player of the Match goes to Gabri Veiga.
