Inter Milan kicked off their 2025/26 Serie A campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 5-0 win over Torino at San Siro on Monday night. Christian Chivu’s men looked a class above their opponents in every department, setting an early marker for the season ahead. Goals from Alessandro Bastoni, Lautaro Martínez, Marcus Thuram — who struck twice — and substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny ensured a perfect start and lifted expectations further among the Nerazzurri faithful.

The first half unfolded much as expected, with Inter Milan comfortably in control. The hosts registered 11 attempts in the opening 45 minutes, five of them on target, and their early dominance set the tone.

Inter had their first real opening when Lautaro Martínez switched play to Federico Dimarco, whose teasing cross found Marcus Thuram. The Frenchman’s header, however, drifted narrowly over the bar. The pressure continued to mount, and in the 18th minute Alessandro Bastoni broke the deadlock. Rising highest to meet Nicolo Barella’s corner, the defender placed his header into the bottom-right corner, leaving Torino goalkeeper Franco Israel stranded.

Inter built on their advantage just before the half-hour mark. A sloppy clearance from Torino handed possession back to the Nerazzurri, and Luka Sučić quickly fed Thuram. The striker steadied himself before drilling a low finish inside the near post to make it 2–0 in the 36th minute. Israel then spared his side further damage before the break, producing successive saves to deny Francesco Acerbi and Sucic in quick succession.

The second half began with Torino showing rare signs of fight. Within minutes, Ngone controlled neatly inside the box but saw his shot charged down. Cesare Casadei then whipped in an early cross, but Giovanni Simeone failed to commit fully in front of goal, allowing Inter to escape unscathed. Any hopes of a Torino fightback quickly vanished. In the 52nd minute, a misplaced back pass put Israel under pressure, and Lautaro Martínez pounced, sliding in to dispossess the goalkeeper before finishing from a tight angle to extend Inter’s lead to 3–0. Thuram then completed his brace on 62 minutes. Bastoni, already on the scoresheet, supplied a pinpoint delivery from the left, and the Frenchman powered in a header into the bottom corner for 4–0. With Torino disorganised, substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny compounded their misery, seizing on another defensive lapse to round off a thumping 5–0 victory.
