Israel vs Italy Player Ratings

Summary

  • The WC Qualification Europe match between Israel and Italy was pure entertainment from start to finish.
  • Moise Kean was the highest rated player in the match.

What a game we've just witnessed today! A game that started with an injury crisis for the home side turned into a disaster for the visitors as they conceded an own goal through Locatelli. After that, Italy came close to an equalizer several times in the 24th and 30th minutes, but luck didn't favour them. Until Kean leveled the scoring with a calm finish, just before halftime. Israel caught the Italian side's defensive line sleeping with a thunderous strike from Dor Peretz in the 52nd minute, but Italy responded immediately with an equalizer, with the former Juventus player, Kean, scoring an impressive volley from the centre of the box. The visitors had enough of chasing the equalisers the whole game, and this time they took the lead through Matteo Politano, who slotted an easy finish past the goalkeeper, but look at that pass from Retegui, an exquisite flick assist from him.

Israel continued pressing forward to find the equaliser whenever they got hold of the ball with quick counters, but the opposition were equally good at the back. The Azzurri doubled their lead with the super sub Raspadori, with a great finish after a swift play between Tonali and Frattesi. OOHHHHH!!! Israel got the chance to come back into the game with another own goal from the visitors, the culprit? Bastoni this time. What's going on with the visitors' defense? They've again conceded a goal in a span of 3 minutes. Terrible defending to be honest and Israel leveled once again. Oh Wait! Tonali just scored in the added time, taking back the lead. Absolute madness, is this the winner? Although Israel ended on the wrong side of the finishing line, given how well they performed against a champion team. On the other hand, the Italian football players will need to do far better than this going forward. Here are the Israel vs Italy player ratings.

Israel Player Ratings vs Italy

Here are the Israel player ratings.

Goalkeeper

Daniel Peretz - 4.5: A truly difficult night for the Israeli shot-stopper. From our perspective, he looked shaky from the start. He was caught out for a couple of the goals and made a crucial error that led directly to one. While he did make two saves, conceding five goals is a statistic that speaks for itself. He just never seemed to command his area with any real authority against a relentless Italian attack. A performance he will want to forget quickly.

Defenders

Eli Dasa - 6.0: The captain had a busy evening before being substituted. He tried to offer some stability on the right but was often overwhelmed by Italy's forward runners. We noticed he committed a few fouls, showing the pressure he was under. He wasn't terrible, but he couldn't stem the Italian tide. It was a tough job for any defender on the pitch today.

Roy Revivo - 7.0: One of the better performers in a beleaguered defence. What stood out to us was his sheer determination. He won an impressive 10 duels and made three successful tackles. He even got forward to test the keeper with a shot on target. Despite conceding five, he can hold his head relatively high. He never stopped fighting for the cause.

Idan Nachmias - 6.0: A mixed bag for the central defender. He made a staggering eight clearances and three blocked shots, throwing his body on the line repeatedly. However, he also lost seven of his ten duels, which is a worrying statistic. He was physically present but struggled to handle the movement of Italy's forwards.

Stav Lemkin - 5.5: His time on the pitch was cut short due to an early injury. In the nine minutes he played, he was involved in a few duels and committed a couple of fouls. It's difficult to give a full rating on such a short appearance. He barely had a chance to make an impact on the game.

Midfielders

Dor Peretz - 8.5: Israel's standout player by a country mile. Scoring two goals from midfield in a game like this is simply magnificent. He was a constant threat, arriving in the box with perfect timing for both his goals. He also worked hard defensively, winning most of his duels. A complete midfield performance that deserved more than a defeat.

Manor Solomon - 8.0: The creative engine for his team. He was a joy to watch on the ball, completing four dribbles and constantly looking to create. He ended the match with an assist and five key passes, which shows just how influential he was. What stood out was his perfect pass completion rate, a sign of his quality even under pressure. A fantastic attacking display.

Oscar Gloukh - 6.5: A neat and tidy performance in the middle of the park. He kept the ball moving with a high pass accuracy and looked comfortable in possession. However, from our perspective, he could have been more incisive in the final third. He did his job well but didn't have the game-changing impact of his midfield partners. A solid, if unspectacular, outing.

Anan Khalaili - 6.0: He put in a shift on the flank before being taken off. We noticed his defensive contributions, making a couple of tackles and clearances. Going forward, he struggled to make a significant impact, losing possession a few times. It was an industrious performance rather than an inspiring one. He worked hard for the team.

Eliel Peretz - 6.5: A very busy performance in the midfield engine room. He recovered the ball nine times and was constantly involved in the play. His passing was a bit hit-and-miss, but he never shied away from trying to make things happen. He made an error leading to a shot, but his overall work rate was commendable. A tireless display.

Forwards

Dan Biton - 7.0: Looked dangerous during his time on the pitch. He managed three shots, with two of them forcing saves from the goalkeeper. He linked up play nicely and was a willing runner. We were a bit surprised to see him substituted, as he seemed one of Israel's more likely sources for a goal. He was a definite threat.

Substitutes

Substitutes did not have enough playtime to warrant a rating.

Manager

R. Ben Shimon - 7.0: His team showed incredible heart and attacking flair, scoring four goals against a top side like Italy. The tactical setup allowed his creative players to flourish, which almost paid off. Defensively, however, his team was a shambles, conceding five. He gets credit for the fight his team showed until the very last whistle.

Italy Player Ratings vs Israel

Here are the Italy player ratings.

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma - 6.0: A strange game for the Italian captain. He made four saves, including a crucial one from an inside-the-box shot. However, conceding four goals never looks good for a keeper of his caliber. He couldn't do much about some of the finishes, but you feel he'll be disappointed with the scoreline. He was let down by his defence for sure.

Defenders

Federico Dimarco - 7.0: A solid outing on the left flank. He was a good outlet going forward, creating two chances and whipping in some dangerous crosses. Defensively, he was diligent, winning his tackles and recovering the ball well. He did his job effectively before being substituted. A reliable performance from the wing-back.

Alessandro Bastoni - 5.0: A night to forget for the centre-back. Being part of a defence that conceded four is bad enough, but scoring an own goal added insult to injury. He looked uncharacteristically flustered and lost a number of his duels. From our perspective, he never really got to grips with Israel's fluid attack. A very poor performance by his high standards.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo - 6.0: A mixed performance on the right side of the defence. He was solid enough, making some important clearances and interceptions. However, he also lost possession a number of times and was dribbled past on one occasion. He did his duty but didn't offer much inspiration going forward. An average day at the office.

Gianluca Mancini - 6.5: He was the better of the central defenders, but that isn't saying much. He was strong in the tackle and made a couple of crucial clearances. He even created a big chance with a key pass, showing his ability on the ball. Still, he was part of a defence that was breached four times. Room for improvement.

Midfielders

Manuel Locatelli - 5.5: A very unfortunate start to the game, scoring an own goal that put his team on the back foot. He was so unlucky to then hit the woodwork with a great strike. He kept possession well, but the own goal really overshadows his entire performance. It was a moment of misfortune that defined his match.

Matteo Politano - 7.5: A lively and effective performance. He got his name on the scoresheet with a well-taken goal and was a constant threat with his crossing. He worked hard for the team and drew a couple of fouls in dangerous areas. He was a real handful before he was substituted. A goal and a good performance are a great return.

Sandro Tonali - 8.0: A dominant performance in the heart of midfield. He was everywhere, recovering the ball nine times and winning the majority of his duels. He also showed his class on the ball, creating three chances and scoring a goal for himself. He drove his team forward with passion and quality. What stood out was his engine; he never stopped running.

Nicolò Barella - 6.0: An uncharacteristically quiet game from the dynamic midfielder. He gave away a number of fouls and struggled to impose himself on the match as he usually does. He kept the ball ticking over but lacked his usual creative spark and energy. A subdued performance by his very high standards.

Forwards

Mateo Retegui - 8.5: He may not have scored, but his contribution was immense. To provide three assists in one game is an incredible achievement for a striker. His link-up play was outstanding, and he created so much for his teammates. He was a physical presence, winning 10 duels and causing the Israeli defence constant problems. A superb, selfless performance.

Moise Kean - 9.5: The man of the match, without a doubt. He was absolutely lethal in front of goal, bagging two crucial goals with powerful strikes. He was a nightmare for defenders with his strength, pace, and movement. He took five shots in total, constantly threatening the goal. It was a world-class striking display that ultimately won Italy the game. Just brilliant.

Substitutes

Substitutes did not have enough playtime to warrant a rating.

Manager

I. Gattuso - 7.5: His team secured the win, and that's what matters. Offensively, his side was a joy to watch, scoring five brilliant goals. However, he will be furious with the defensive display. Conceding four goals and looking so open at the back is a major concern. He made good substitutions that helped see out the game, but he has a lot of work to do on the training ground to sort out that defence.
