Juventus Vs AC Milan Player Ratings

Summary

  • AC Milan tried to reach the number 1 spot by taking 3 points, but the match ended in a goalless stalemate
  • Maignan was the best player of the match
  • Kelly was the worst player of the match

A match billed as a heavyweight clash in Serie A ended in a frustrating stalemate. The highly anticipated game between Juventus and Milan at Allianz Stadium finished 0-0, a result that tells only half the story. It was a contest defined by what could have been. A night of squandered opportunities and goalkeeping heroics.

From our perspective, the entire narrative pivoted on a single moment. In the 53rd minute, Milan were handed a golden chance to take the lead from the penalty spot. However, Christian Pulisic effort agonizingly sailed wide of the post. A collective groan could be felt, and it seemed to suck the life out of the Rossoneri's attacking impetus. It was the game's defining moment, a chance gone begging in a match of very few clear-cut ones.

Both goalkeepers emerged as the undisputed heroes. AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan and Michele Di Gregorio for Juventus were colossal between the sticks. They both made crucial saves throughout the match to ensure their sides took home a point. While the defenders on both teams were solid, it was the men with the gloves who truly earned their keep, turning what could have been a sloppy 1-0 into a hard-fought 0-0 draw.

AC Milan Player Ratings vs Juventus

Here are AC Milan Player Ratings vs Juventus

Goalkeeper

Mike Maignan - 8.0: A commanding performance from the captain. He made three crucial saves, including a brilliant one to deny Federico Gatti's header. His distribution was also impeccable, with an 80% success rate on long balls. Stood tall when his team needed him most and was a key reason for the clean sheet. What stood out to us was his confidence and claim of the high ball, truly dominating his area.

Defenders

Fikayo Tomori - 7.0: A typically solid display from the Englishman. He was composed on the ball and made five clearances to keep the Juventus attack at bay. He wasn't tested too strenuously in one-on-one duels but his positioning was spot on. A quiet, effective night's work which is exactly what you want from your center-back.

Strahinja Pavlović - 7.5: Very impressive from the Serbian defender. He was strong in the air winning two of three aerial duels and his passing was sublime with a 95% accuracy. He even created a chance, showing his ability to contribute further up the pitch. A really complete performance that sometimes goes unnoticed.

Matteo Gabbia - 7.5: An absolute rock at the back. Gabbia made a staggering nine clearances and was a constant thorn in the side of the opposition. His reading of the game was excellent, making a key interception and a blocked shot. He also created a chance, proving his value at both ends. A standout defensive performance.

Midfielders

Davide Bartesaghi - 6.0: A mixed bag for the midfielder. He showed flashes of creativity, even setting up a blocked shot, but he was also loose in possession, losing the ball nine times. He picked up a yellow card for a clumsy challenge. You can see the talent but the final product and discipline were lacking on the day.

Luka Modrić - 8.0: The ageless maestro. He controlled the midfield with effortless grace, completing 68 passes and dictating the tempo of the game. He created two chances and was the heartbeat of everything good Milan did going forward. It's a joy to watch him play, he just oozes class. A shame his teammates couldn't capitalize on his vision.

Adrien Rabiot - 6.5: A quiet but efficient performance. He kept the ball moving with 95% passing accuracy and had one shot that went just wide. We noticed he did his defensive duties without much fuss but failed to impose himself on the game in an attacking sense. A steady, if unspectacular, outing.

Alexis Saelemaekers - 6.5: Worked tirelessly down the flank. He was solid defensively, winning four duels and making two tackles. However, his final ball was often lacking and he squandered a decent shooting opportunity. You can never fault his effort but the quality wasn't quite there to make a difference.

Youssouf Fofana - 6.0: An industrious but frustrating performance. He was full of energy, winning five duels and drawing two fouls before being substituted. However, he was also booked for a silly foul and struggled to make a real impact in the final third. A decent shift but nothing more.

Forwards

Santiago Gimenez - 7.5: Looked like Milan's most dangerous threat before his substitution. He was a real handful for the Juventus defence, winning an impressive six of eight duels. He won the penalty with his clever movement and had a good shot on target saved. We were surprised to see him taken off so early.

Christian Pulisic - 4.5: A day to forget for the American. The missed penalty is the defining moment of his performance and, arguably, the match. It was a massive opportunity squandered. While he did create two chances and had a shot on target, the penalty miss at this level in a 0-0 game is simply inexcusable. It overshadowed everything else he did.

Substitutes

Rafael Leão - 6.0: Came on for Gimenez and had a couple of bright moments, including a long-range effort that just missed. Looked lively but couldn't find the breakthrough.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 6.0: Replaced Fofana and brought some physical presence to the midfield. Had a shot blocked late on.

Christopher Nkunku - N/A: Came on late and didn't have enough time to influence the game.

Manager

M. Allegri - 6.0: Set his team up to be defensively solid, and they achieved that with a clean sheet. However, they lacked a cutting edge in attack. The decision to substitute Gimenez was questionable, from our perspective. Ultimately his team failed to win a very winnable game, largely due to a player's individual error.

Goalkeeper

Michele Di Gregorio - 8.0: An outstanding performance to earn his clean sheet. He made four saves, two of which were from inside the box. He was confident and commanded his area well, claiming a high ball and making a punch. A top-tier display that saved his team a point. He was a real wall.

Defenders

Federico Gatti - 6.5: A very eventful evening for Gatti. He was a huge threat in the opposition box, forcing a brilliant save from a header. But defensively he was a bit of a liability. He was booked and committed three fouls, looking reckless at times. An all-action, chaotic performance.

Lloyd Kelly - 4.0: The villain of the piece for Juventus. A clumsy challenge inside the box to concede the penalty was a disastrous error. He was incredibly lucky that Pulisic missed. That single moment of madness defines his game and drags his rating way down. He lost five of his six duels and looked off the pace.

Daniele Rugani - 6.5: A solid and understated performance. He made five clearances and two interceptions, doing his job effectively without any fuss. He was strong in the air but lost a few duels on the ground. A decent, if unremarkable, outing before being substituted late on.

Midfielders

Manuel Locatelli - 7.0: The captain led by example in midfield. He was everywhere, boasting an incredible 96% pass accuracy and creating two chances. He also made some crucial defensive contributions but blotted his copybook with a yellow card and a bad error that led to a shot. A good performance marred by a couple of sloppy moments.

Weston McKennie - 5.5: A frustrating night for the American. He got into good positions but his finishing was woeful, missing the target with two shots. He worked hard but was wasteful in possession and offered little creativity. From our perspective, he needed to show more composure in front of goal.

Andrea Cambiaso - 6.5: Tidy and efficient on the ball, with a 96% pass completion rate. He had one shot on target from distance but was otherwise quite conservative. He did his job defensively, recovering the ball four times. A safe performance, but you wanted to see him take more risks.

Pierre Kalulu - 7.5: An excellent creative outlet from a deeper role. He created a remarkable four chances for his teammates, a real surprise contribution. He was solid defensively for the most part, although he did commit a foul that led to a dangerous free-kick. His delivery was a constant threat.

Forwards

Francisco Conceição - 5.5: Showed some nice touches and drew a couple of fouls, but his end product was missing. He completed just one successful dribble from three attempts and his crossing was inconsistent. He was substituted after 69 minutes having failed to make a significant impact.

Kenan Yıldız - 5.5: Similar to his forward partners, he struggled to get into the game. He lost the ball 12 times and his crossing was poor. He showed flashes of skill with two successful dribbles but it led to nothing. It was no surprise to see him hooked in the second half.

Jonathan David - 5.0: Almost a ghost for large parts of the match. He managed just 16 touches in 69 minutes and lost four of his six duels. While he did manage to create two key passes, he was largely anonymous and offered very little threat. A really disappointing showing.

Substitutes

Loïs Openda - 6.0: Added a bit of pace but was just as wasteful as the starters.

Dusan Vlahovic - 5.5: Barely involved after coming on.

Khéphren Thuram - 6.0: Brought some energy but couldn't change the game's flow.

Filip Kostic - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Manager

I. Tudor - 6.0: His team created enough chances to win the game but his forwards were incredibly wasteful. The decision to change the entire front three was a bold one but ultimately fruitless. He will be furious that his side couldn't capitalize on their opportunities, especially after the penalty miss.
