Summary
What a demolition job. England absolutely dismantled Latvia in a completely one-sided affair in this WC Qualification Europe clash. The final score of 5-0 hardly even tells the full story of the dominance we witnessed at Stadions Daugava. From the first whistle, it was clear there was a massive gulf in class between the two sides.

From our perspective, England could have been three or four up inside 20 minutes. They created chance after chance, with shots from Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka going just wide. It felt inevitable, and Anthony Gordon finally broke the deadlock with a sharp finish on the counter. After that, the floodgates truly opened.
The match was effectively over by halftime. Harry Kane added a brilliant second before coolly dispatching a penalty he won himself just before the break. An unfortunate own goal early in the second half just rubbed salt in Latvia's wounds, summing up a miserable night for the hosts. England were simply on another level, controlling every blade of grass.

Goalkeeper
Jordan Pickford - 6.5: Had one of the quietest nights of his career. He made one save from an effort inside the box but otherwise was a total spectator. We noticed he was alert when needed, but he could have brought a deck of cards to play. His distribution was fine on the few occasions he was called upon. A clean sheet is a clean sheet, but he was rarely tested.
Defenders
Ezri Konsa - 7.5: A very solid and composed performance. His pass accuracy was a staggering 98%, showing his comfort on the ball under no pressure. What stood out to us was his perfectly timed last-man tackle, a crucial intervention even in a dominant game. The late yellow card was a minor blip on an otherwise excellent defensive display. He looked very assured.
John Stones - 8.0: Pure class at the back before being given a rest. He stepped into midfield with the ball, created two chances, and even grabbed an assist. His 98% pass accuracy highlights his role in building attacks from deep. He won his aerial duels and his eight ball recoveries show he was sweeping up anything that came near him. A superb, modern centre-back performance.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - 7.0: A really encouraging display from the youngster. He was heavily involved, getting 73 touches and looking to get forward down the left. From our perspective, he looked a little raw at times, losing possession on eight occasions. However, his willingness to join the attack and his overall confidence were impressive. A good learning experience for him.
Djed Spence - 7.0: A proper wing-back performance, constantly bombing forward. He had a massive 105 touches, which shows how much of an outlet he was. He was defensively solid, winning half of his duels and making three tackles. The only thing lacking was his final product, with none of his five crosses finding their man. A bit more quality there and his rating would be higher.

Midfielders
Declan Rice - 7.5: The midfield metronome for the hour he was on the pitch. He just kept things simple and effective, recycling possession with 95% accuracy. He made three key interceptions to snuff out any hint of a Latvian counter-attack. It was an effortless-looking performance, controlling the tempo of the game completely before being substituted. Job done.
Elliot Anderson - 8.5: What an engine this lad has. He was absolutely everywhere, a complete all-action display that caught our eye from the start. He had a staggering 150 touches, made 11 ball recoveries, and had five shots. He was a defensive rock and an attacking threat rolled into one. A truly dominant midfield performance that deserved a goal.
Morgan Rogers - 6.0: To be honest, we were a little disappointed with his contribution. He struggled to get into the game and was often on the periphery. His 70% pass accuracy was low compared to his teammates, and he lost the ball far too often. He created a couple of chances but looked off the pace before being substituted. Not his best night.
Forwards
Bukayo Saka - 8.0: A livewire for his 60 minutes on the pitch. He was a constant menace down the right flank, providing a crucial assist and creating two chances. He was direct, committed defenders, and always looked to make something happen. It was no surprise he was given a rest with the game already won. A top performance.
Harry Kane - 9.0: The captain led by example. A clinical brace, one a powerful strike from distance and the other a coolly taken penalty that he won himself. He was the clear highest-rated player on the pitch. Beyond the goals, he dropped deep, linked play, and had a total of eight shots. A complete centre-forward performance and our man of the match.
Anthony Gordon - 8.0: Got the ball rolling with the all-important first goal, a smart finish on the break. He was a handful throughout his time on the pitch, constantly running at the defence and creating two key chances. His energy was infectious, and he fully deserved his goal. A very positive outing for him.

Substitutes
Eberechi Eze - 7.5: Made an immediate impact, scoring a goal and looking incredibly sharp. Jordan Henderson - 6.5: Came on and kept possession ticking over smoothly. Jarrod Bowen - 6.0: Looked busy but snatched at a good opportunity. Marcus Rashford - 6.0: Didn't have a lot of time to get involved. Dan Burn - 6.5: Slotted in comfortably at the back.
Manager
T. Tuchel - 8.5: His game plan was perfect. He selected an attacking team that overwhelmed Latvia from the very first minute. The tactics were spot on, and his substitutions were managed well, giving key players a rest and others valuable minutes. You can't ask for more than a 5-0 away win.

Here are Latvia Player Ratings vs England
Goalkeeper
Krisjanis Zviedris - 5.5: A truly thankless task. He conceded five goals, but from our perspective, he couldn't be blamed for most of them. He made three saves, a couple of which were decent stops to prevent the scoreline from becoming even more embarrassing. He was left completely exposed by his defence all night.
Defenders
Daniels Balodis - 5.0: It was a torrid night for the defender. He was pulled all over the place by England's fluid attack. He picked up a deserved yellow card and really struggled to cope with the movement of Saka and Gordon. A very difficult evening for him.
Roberts Veips - 6.0: You have to give him some credit for his effort. He made a game-high eight clearances, constantly throwing himself in the way. However, he was still part of a backline that was completely carved open time and time again. He fought a losing battle with determination.
Antonijs Cernomordijs - 4.5: A shocking performance from the captain. He looked off the pace from the start and his disastrous night was sealed when he gave away the penalty with a clumsy challenge. The yellow card he received for it summed up his frustration. He'll want to forget this game ever happened.
Raivis Jurkovskis - 5.0: Lasted only 45 minutes before being hooked at halftime, which tells you everything. He was unable to contain England's attackers and offered nothing going forward himself. A night to forget.
Andrejs Ciganiks - 5.5: A strange, chaotic performance. His stat line is a mess: 11 clearances and 5 interceptions show he was busy, but an error leading to a goal and a yellow card show his sloppiness. He fought hard but his mistakes were very costly. A real mixed bag of a night.

Midfielders
Renars Varslavans - 5.5: He ran hard but was completely overrun in the midfield battle. He was chasing shadows for most of the hour he was on the pitch. The game just passed him by, as England's midfield trio dominated possession and space. It was an impossible task for him.
Janis Ikaunieks - 5.5: Another player who worked tirelessly but with very little reward. He lost possession 13 times, highlighting how he struggled under England's press. He recovered the ball six times, showing his effort, but he just couldn't get a foothold in the game to make any real impact.
Dmitrijs Zelenkovs - 6.0: One of the tidier players for Latvia, with a high pass completion rate. However, almost all of his passes were safe and backwards or sideways. He didn't take any risks or provide any creative spark to get his team up the pitch. A neat but ultimately ineffective performance.
Lukass Vapne - 5.0: Really struggled to make any sort of impact. He was dribbled past three times and just couldn't handle the physicality and movement of England's midfield. He lost the ball nine times and offered very little before being substituted. A very quiet evening.
Forwards
Vladislavs Gutkovskis - 5.5: The loneliest man on the pitch. He was completely isolated up front, feeding on absolute scraps. He had just 19 touches in 73 minutes, which is astonishingly low. He fought for aerial balls but was starved of any meaningful service. We felt for him, it was a thankless role.
Substitutes
Maksims Tonisevs - 4.5: Came on at halftime and promptly scored an own goal. A nightmare introduction. Eduards Daskevics - 6.0: At least got a shot on target. Marko Regza - 5.5: Ran around but didn't change much. Aleksejs Saveljevs - 5.5: Brought on when the game was long gone.
Manager
P. Nicolato - 4.0: His team was set up to be hard to beat, but they were anything but. They were tactically outclassed, disorganized at the back, and offered absolutely nothing in attack. He seemed to have no answer for England's superiority. A very, very poor showing from his side.
