Lyon 1-2 Toulouse Player Ratings: Martin Satriano 8/10 Rated as Late Toulouse Comeback Stuns Lyon 2-1

Summary
What an unbelievable turnaround at the Groupama Stadium. Olympique Lyonnais looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory in this Ligue 1 fixture, only for it all to unravel in the dying embers of the game. From our perspective, this was a classic tale of two halves, or more accurately, a tale of the final ten minutes. Lyon completely dominated the proceedings for about 85 minutes of this match.
They took a deserved lead through Malick Fofana in the first half and created numerous chances to put the game to bed. But they couldn't find that crucial second goal. We noticed a shift in momentum late on. Toulouse, who had defended for their lives, suddenly found a second wind. Their substitutes made a monumental impact, a masterstroke from their manager.
The late substitute Emersonn was the hero, scoring in the 87th minute and then again with a dramatic header deep into stoppage time. The home crowd was stunned into silence. It was a brutal lesson for Lyon in game management and a testament to Toulouse's never-say-die attitude. This result will sting Lyon for a while.
Lyon Player Ratings vs Toulouse
Here are the Lyon player ratings vs Toulouse.
Goalkeeper
Dominik Greif - 6.0: For most of the match, he was a spectator. He made a couple of necessary saves inside the box. But when the pressure mounted at the end, he was beaten twice. The winning goal in the 96th minute was a killer blow. We feel he could have commanded his area better on that final corner. A tough ending to what was an otherwise quiet night.
Defenders
Nicolás Tagliafico - 7.0: A really solid outing from the left-back. He won an impressive 9 duels and was a constant source of support going forward. Drew 4 fouls, showing how tricky he was for the opposition. Defensively sound for the most part, but the entire backline collapsed under the late onslaught.
Moussa Niakhaté - 6.5: He dominated possession, with 117 touches and 102 passes. Made 5 crucial clearances and blocked three shots. However, his performance was marred by losing possession 11 times and being part of the defensive unit that switched off at the very end. A decent performance that will be forgotten because of the result.
Clinton Mata - 6.0: A difficult night for Mata. He struggled to make a positive impact on the game. He lost the ball 14 times which is far too high for a defender. He was also dribbled past on two occasions. Not his finest hour, and he looked off the pace at crucial moments.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 6.5: A busy performance from Maitland-Niles. He made an incredible 6 tackles, showing his defensive commitment. He won 8 duels and was solid for large periods. However, like his defensive partners, the late collapse tarnishes his rating. He conceded the final corner that led to the winning goal.

Midfielders
Tanner Tessmann - 7.0: Neat and tidy in the heart of midfield. His pass accuracy was excellent, and he kept things ticking over. He won most of his long balls and even drew a few fouls. A disciplined performance that provided a good platform for the attackers, until the final chaos ensued.
Adam Karabec - 7.0: He was Lyon's creative spark for much of the game. Created 4 chances for his teammates before being substituted. His crossing was a constant threat. From our perspective, his substitution might have been a turning point, as Lyon lost some of their creative edge after he left the pitch.
Corentin Tolisso - 7.0: The captain led by example with his work rate. He was involved everywhere, taking shots, creating chances, and recovering the ball. He created one big chance but also missed one, which could have sealed the game. A classic all-action display from Tolisso that ultimately went unrewarded.
Malick Fofana - 7.5: The best player in a Lyon shirt for us. He took his goal well in the first half and was a constant danger. He had 5 shots in total and always looked likely to make something happen. It’s a shame his goal didn't prove to be the winner as his performance deserved it.
Tyler Morton - 6.5: A mixed performance from Morton. He was composed on the ball with 87% pass accuracy but also lost possession 17 times. He tried to make things happen with his crossing but lacked the final product. A steady but unspectacular performance.
Forwards
Martín Satriano - 8.0: Our man of the match despite the loss. He was simply superb. He didn't score, but his creative play was outstanding, providing the assist for Fofana's goal and creating another big chance. His link-up play was excellent, and he was a nightmare for the Toulouse defenders. A top-class performance.

Substitutes
Afonso Moreira - N/A: Came on late and picked up a yellow card. Not enough time to make an impact.
Pavel Sulc - N/A: Introduced in stoppage time with no real opportunity to influence the game.
Manager
P. Rodrigues Fonseca - 5.0: For 85 minutes, his game plan worked perfectly. Lyon were dominant and in control. However, his team's complete collapse in the final minutes is a huge black mark. The inability to see out the game and the defensive fragility shown under pressure fall on the manager. A very painful lesson learned.

Toulouse Player Ratings vs Lyon
Here are the Toulouse player ratings vs Lyon.
Goalkeeper
Guillaume Restes - 6.5: He couldn't do much about the goal he conceded. He made two important saves from inside the box to keep his team in the contest. His distribution was a bit erratic, but his shot-stopping was vital. He'll be delighted with the comeback and his clean sheet in the second half.
Defenders
Rasmus Nicolaisen - 6.5: The captain had a very tough first half against Lyon's fluid attack, committing a few clumsy fouls. However, he grew into the game and was a rock in the second half. He made 7 clearances and was a key part of the resilient defensive effort that allowed for the late comeback.
Mark McKenzie - 6.0: A difficult evening for the American defender. He was booked and looked shaky at times, being dribbled past once. He made some important interventions, including 3 interceptions, but it was not a confident performance. He will be the most relieved man on the pitch with the win.
Charlie Cresswell - 7.5: An absolute monster at the back. What a defensive display. He made a staggering 12 clearances and 3 crucial blocked shots. He was everywhere, heading balls away and putting his body on the line. This victory was built on his defensive solidity. An outstanding performance.

Midfielders
Warren Kamanzi - 6.0: He struggled to get into the game and was substituted at half-time. He looked a bit overwhelmed by Lyon's midfield. The change made a difference for Toulouse, which says a lot. A day to forget for the midfielder.
Djibril Sidibé - 6.0: A very poor passing display, completing only 44% of his passes. He lost possession 19 times, which is just too much. He worked hard defensively but offered very little going forward before being subbed off. The team improved after he left.
Cristian Cásseres Jr. - 7.0: A lively and creative presence. He completed 91% of his passes and created two chances for his teammates. He was always looking to get on the ball and make things happen. It was a surprise to see him substituted, as he was one of Toulouse's better players.
Mario Sauer - 6.0: Similar to Kamanzi, he had a quiet first half and was taken off at the break. He was neat in possession but failed to make any real impact on the game. The tactical switch at half-time proved to be the right call from the manager.
Forwards
Frank Magri - 7.0: He was a real handful for the Lyon defence. He won an incredible 10 duels and was a constant physical presence. He had a great header saved in the first half. He tired as the game went on, but his relentless work rate set the tone for his team's fightback.
Yann Gboho - 7.5: The creative hub of this Toulouse team. He created an amazing 5 chances and provided the assist for the equaliser. He was a constant threat with his dribbling and passing. A fantastic performance that was key to turning the game around.
Aron Dønnum - 6.5: A frustrating night for Dønnum. He picked up a yellow card and lost possession 11 times. However, he worked hard defensively, making 3 interceptions, and never stopped running. He played his part in a famous team victory.
Substitutes
Emersonn - N/A: The hero of the day. Came on and scored two late goals to win the match. An unbelievable impact from the bench. No rating can do justice to a match-winning cameo like that.
Abu Francis - N/A: Brought energy to the midfield after coming on at halftime.
Dayann Methalie - N/A: Looked dangerous after his introduction, forcing a good save.
Alexis Vossah - N/A: Provided the crucial assist for the winning goal.
Santiago Hidalgo - N/A: Came on to help see out the historic win.
Manager
C. Martínez Novell - 8.5: A tactical genius today. His team was second best for large parts, but he recognized it. His half-time changes and late substitutions completely changed the game. Bringing on Emersonn will go down in Toulouse folklore. He masterminded one of the great comeback wins.
