What an unbelievable turnaround at the Groupama Stadium. Olympique Lyonnais looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory in this Ligue 1 fixture, only for it all to unravel in the dying embers of the game. From our perspective, this was a classic tale of two halves, or more accurately, a tale of the final ten minutes. Lyon completely dominated the proceedings for about 85 minutes of this match.

They took a deserved lead through Malick Fofana in the first half and created numerous chances to put the game to bed. But they couldn't find that crucial second goal. We noticed a shift in momentum late on. Toulouse, who had defended for their lives, suddenly found a second wind. Their substitutes made a monumental impact, a masterstroke from their manager.

The late substitute Emersonn was the hero, scoring in the 87th minute and then again with a dramatic header deep into stoppage time. The home crowd was stunned into silence. It was a brutal lesson for Lyon in game management and a testament to Toulouse's never-say-die attitude. This result will sting Lyon for a while.

The winning goal in the 96th minute was a killer blow. We feel he could have commanded his area better on that final corner. A tough ending to what was an otherwise quiet night.

Defenders

Nicolás Tagliafico - 7.0: A really solid outing from the left-back. He won an impressive 9 duels and was a constant source of support going forward. Drew 4 fouls, showing how tricky he was for the opposition. Defensively sound for the most part, but the entire backline collapsed under the late onslaught.

Moussa Niakhaté - 6.5: He dominated possession, with 117 touches and 102 passes. Made 5 crucial clearances and blocked three shots. However, his performance was marred by losing possession 11 times and being part of the defensive unit that switched off at the very end. A decent performance that will be forgotten because of the result.

Clinton Mata - 6.0: A difficult night for Mata. He struggled to make a positive impact on the game. He lost the ball 14 times which is far too high for a defender. He was also dribbled past on two occasions. Not his finest hour, and he looked off the pace at crucial moments.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 6.5: A busy performance from Maitland-Niles. He made an incredible 6 tackles, showing his defensive commitment. He won 8 duels and was solid for large periods. However, like his defensive partners, the late collapse tarnishes his rating. He conceded the final corner that led to the winning goal.

Midfielders

Tanner Tessmann - 7.0: Neat and tidy in the heart of midfield. His pass accuracy was excellent, and he kept things ticking over. He won most of his long balls and even drew a few fouls. A disciplined performance that provided a good platform for the attackers, until the final chaos ensued.

Adam Karabec - 7.0: He was Lyon's creative spark for much of the game. Created 4 chances for his teammates before being substituted. His crossing was a constant threat. From our perspective, his substitution might have been a turning point, as Lyon lost some of their creative edge after he left the pitch.

Corentin Tolisso - 7.0: The captain led by example with his work rate. He was involved everywhere, taking shots, creating chances, and recovering the ball. He created one big chance but also missed one, which could have sealed the game. A classic all-action display from Tolisso that ultimately went unrewarded.

Malick Fofana - 7.5: The best player in a Lyon shirt for us. He took his goal well in the first half and was a constant danger. He had 5 shots in total and always looked likely to make something happen. It’s a shame his goal didn't prove to be the winner as his performance deserved it.

Tyler Morton - 6.5: A mixed performance from Morton. He was composed on the ball with 87% pass accuracy but also lost possession 17 times. He tried to make things happen with his crossing but lacked the final product. A steady but unspectacular performance.

Forwards

Martín Satriano - 8.0: Our man of the match despite the loss. He was simply superb. He didn't score, but his creative play was outstanding, providing the assist for Fofana's goal and creating another big chance. His link-up play was excellent, and he was a nightmare for the Toulouse defenders. A top-class performance.

Afonso Moreira - N/A: Came on late and picked up a yellow card. Not enough time to make an impact.

Mark McKenzie - 6.0: A difficult evening for the American defender. He was booked and looked shaky at times, being dribbled past once.
