Monaco vs Metz Player Ratings

Summary

  • Monaco thrashed Metz in a 5-2 Ligue 1 thriller match at Stade Louis II.
  • Koffi Kouao had a tough game against Monaco and received the lowest rating in this match.
  • Ansu Fati received the highest rating in this match.

We just witnessed a seven-goal thriller at the Stade Louis II, played between Monaco and Metz. In this Ligue 1 showdown, Monaco eventually emerged as 5-2 victors over a spirited but ultimately fragile Metz side. The final score, however, doesn't quite capture the full drama of this incredible match.

Metz stunned the home crowd by taking an early lead through Habib Diallo, looking sharp and dangerous. Monaco clawed their way back to 1-1 before the break, but the real story began in the second half. Manager A. Hütter's changes were nothing short of genius.

The introduction of Ansu Fati at halftime completely changed the dynamic, as he scored almost immediately. Despite Metz showing incredible fight to level it at 2-2 via a penalty, they simply couldn't handle Monaco's relentless late surge. The floodgates opened in the final 15 minutes, sealing a wild, memorable victory for the home side. Here are the Monaco vs Metz player ratings.

Monaco Player Ratings vs Metz

Here are the Monaco player ratings vs Metz.

Goalkeeper

Philipp Köhn - 6.0: A mixed bag for the keeper. He couldn't do much about either of the goals he conceded and made one decent save in the first half. His distribution was solid, but it wasn't a day where he was truly tested beyond the goals that went in. A quiet afternoon in many ways, despite the scoreline.

Defenders

Thilo Kehrer - 7.0: From our perspective, he was the most solid of the backline. He was composed on the ball, moving it forward with purpose, and made a few important clearances. He won most of his duels and seemed to be the leader organising things, even when it got chaotic around him.

Eric Dier - 6.5: A fairly standard performance from Dier. He made a couple of crucial blocked shots and his passing was as crisp as ever. However, he was part of a defence that looked vulnerable whenever Metz countered with pace. He wasn't directly at fault for the goals, but the unit as a whole wasn't entirely convincing.

J. Teze - 6.0: A really industrious performance from Teze, who was very active in the tackle. He won a good number of his duels and made key interceptions. The yellow card blemishes his day slightly, and like the others, he was part of a defence that took a while to get comfortable.

Kassoum Ouattara - 6.0: He was a willing runner down the flank, attempting to create chances with his crossing. Defensively, he was caught out a couple of times, which is maybe why he was substituted. A performance full of energy but lacking that final bit of quality before he was taken off.

Midfielders

Lamine Camara - 8.0: What stood out to us was his sheer energy. He was everywhere. His ball recovery was immense, and he was constantly trying to drive his team forward. He capped it all off with a crucial assist for the go-ahead goal, a really impressive and all-action display.

Maghnes Akliouche - 6.5: A busy, if slightly frustrating, performance to watch. He worked incredibly hard off the ball, winning it back multiple times in good areas. However, he also lost possession too often for our liking. You can't fault the effort, but he needed a bit more composure.

Takumi Minamino - 6.0: A really strange game from him. He provided the assist for the equalizer and looked dangerous at times. But then he gave away the penalty with a clumsy challenge and missed a huge chance himself. It's the kind of performance that leaves you scratching your head, a mix of the brilliant and the baffling.

Aladji Bamba - N/A: He was forced off with an injury early in the first half, so it's not fair to give him a rating.

Forwards

Mika Biereth - 7.5: He was a real handful for the Metz defenders. He took his goal well, showing great instincts in the box. He was a constant nuisance, drawing fouls and using his physical presence effectively before being substituted. A very good outing.

Paris Brunner - 5.0: It just wasn't his day. He struggled to get involved in the game and was largely anonymous in the first half. It wasn't a surprise to see him taken off at halftime, as the attack needed a different spark.

Substitutes

Ansu Fati - 9.0: The man of the match, without a doubt. He came on and completely changed the game. Scored with one of his first touches, then added a brilliant header to put Monaco ahead for good. A truly electric, game-winning cameo performance.

Krépin Diatta - 7.5: Came on for the injured Bamba and provided real width and quality. His cross for Fati's second goal was absolute perfection. A great impact from the bench.

George Ilenikhena - 7.0: Replaced Biereth and continued to cause problems. He capped his performance with a well-taken goal in stoppage time. Another substitute who delivered.

Stanis Idumbo - 7.0: Came on late but still managed to bag an assist. Looked lively and eager to make an impression.

Caio Henrique - N/A: Brought on late to see the game out.

Manager

A. Hütter - 8.5: His substitutions were a masterstroke. Every single attacking change he made contributed directly to a goal. He recognized the team needed a spark at halftime and made the perfect call with Fati. Tactically brilliant.

Metz Player Ratings vs Monaco

Here are the Metz player ratings vs Monaco.

Goalkeeper

Jonathan Fischer - 4.5: You have to feel for him. Conceding five goals is a nightmare for any keeper. He made a couple of decent saves, but he was ultimately left completely exposed by his defence. It’s hard to give a high rating on a day like this.

Defenders

Maxime Colin - 5.0: He had a torrid time, especially in the second half as Monaco's attackers ran riot. He battled hard but was part of a defensive unit that simply collapsed under pressure. A difficult day at the office.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin - 5.5: He was one of the busiest players on the pitch, with a huge number of touches and passes. He tried to build from the back but was overwhelmed by Monaco’s late attacking surge. He couldn't stem the tide when it mattered.

T. Yegbe - 4.5: A really tough match for the defender. He made a crucial error that led to a shot and committed several fouls. While he did make a lot of clearances, he struggled to contain the movement of the Monaco forwards and looked out of his depth.

Midfielders

Jessy Deminguet - 6.0: He was doing a decent job in the middle of the park before he was substituted. He was tidy in possession and made a couple of important tackles. The team lost a bit of control after he went off.

Benjamin Stambouli - 5.0: A difficult outing for the experienced midfielder. He lost possession far too easily and made a critical error that led to a chance for the opposition. He battled, but it was a performance marred by mistakes.

Koffi Kouao - 5.5: One of the most bizarre performances we've seen in a while. He was a constant threat, winning the penalty with his direct running. But then he scored a deeply unfortunate own goal. His game was a whirlwind of good and bad, pure chaos.

Fodé Ballo-Touré - 6.0: Looked solid enough down the left flank. He was good on the ball and tried to support the attack. His influence waned as the game went on, and he was eventually substituted.

Forwards

Gauthier Hein - 8.0: Clearly Metz's best player on the day. He was the creative spark for his team, setting up chances and looking dangerous throughout. He showed immense composure to tuck away his penalty to make it 2-2. A captain's performance, even in a heavy defeat.

Cheikh Sabaly - 7.0: He was excellent in the first half, providing a great assist for the opening goal and creating other big chances. His influence faded a little in the second half as Monaco took control, but he can hold his head high.

Habib Diallo - 7.0: He took his goal brilliantly to give Metz a dream start. He was a physical presence up top, winning a surprising number of aerial duels. He was a constant problem for the Monaco defence, especially in the first 60 minutes.

Substitutes

Alpha Touré - 5.0: Came on but struggled to make any real impact on the game.

Ismaël Guerti - 5.0: Thrown into the chaos of the midfield battle but couldn't help his team regain a foothold.

Giorgi Tsitaishvili - N/A: Came on too late to influence the match.

Morgan Bokele - N/A: A late substitution with the game already lost.

Manager

S. Le Mignan - 5.5: His team started with a fantastic game plan that clearly unsettled Monaco. They showed great character to fight back to 2-2. However, he had no answer for Monaco's late-game surge, and his team's defensive collapse is a major concern.
