Puerto Rico Player Ratings vs Argentina

Here are Puerto Rico Player Ratings vs Argentina

Goalkeeper

Sebastián Cutler - 5.0: It was a brutal night for the Puerto Rican keeper. He faced an onslaught and while he made three saves, conceding four goals is never good. What stood out to us was his body language; he looked defeated early on. He couldn't have done much for most of the goals, to be fair. They were simply well-worked chances from a superior side. A tough learning experience for him.

Defenders

Nicolás Cardona - 5.5: Tried to hold the line but was constantly pulled out of position by Argentina's fluid movement. He made a couple of passes into the final third but was mostly on the back foot. We noticed he struggled with the pace of the game. It was a difficult assignment against some of the world's best. He'll be disappointed with the goals conceded.

Giovanni Calderon - 5.5: He put his body on the line, blocking three shots, which deserves credit. However, the defense was breached far too easily throughout the match. He won his only duel but was part of a backline that was overwhelmed. We saw him trying to organize but the task was immense.

Sidney Paris - 5.0: A really tough day at the office. He won a couple of duels and made a tackle but was part of a defence that was all at sea. The relentless pressure from Argentina's attack was just too much. He lost possession in a key area once, which almost led to another chance. A learning curve.

Steven Echeverria - 5.0: Like his defensive partners, he had a night to forget. He made one tackle and recovered the ball twice but it wasn't enough. From our perspective, he was often chasing shadows. The sheer quality of the opposition was a level above. He'll want to move on from this one quickly.

Midfielders

Isaac Angking - 6.0: He showed some moments of composure on the ball with a high pass accuracy. He also made a couple of important clearances. However, the midfield battle was completely lost. Angking worked hard but couldn't stamp any authority on the game. He was fighting a losing battle against a world-class midfield.

Jeremy de León - 6.0: Displayed some nice touches and tried to drive the team forward when he could. He was dispossessed once but also completed a successful dribble. He showed some bravery on the ball which was nice to see. A flicker of hope in a team that was otherwise outplayed.

R. Ydrach - 6.0: He tried to connect play with some decent passing but was swamped. He put in a shift but struggled to make a significant impact on the proceedings. From our view, he was working hard off the ball but couldn't get close to Argentina's midfielders. The gulf in class was evident.

Forwards

Wilfredo Rivera - 6.5: One of Puerto Rico's brightest sparks, which isn't saying much. He registered a shot on target and looked to be a threat when he had the ball. He even won a tackle, showing his desire to work back. A promising performance in a dire team display. We were impressed by his effort.

Ricardo Rivera - 5.5: It was a frustrating evening for the forward. He was isolated for large parts of the game and barely had a sniff of the ball. He won a couple of duels but lost possession twice. He really struggled to impose himself against a solid Argentine defence. He needed more support.

Leandro Antonetti - 6.5: The captain led by example with his work rate. He had one of his team's few shots on target and showed some fight. He tried to press from the front but it was a lonely job. His effort was commendable, even if the end result was disappointing. He never gave up.

Manager

C. Trout - 5.0: There was little he could do against a powerhouse like Argentina. His team was set up to be compact, but they were picked apart with ease. From our perspective, perhaps a more defensive shape was needed from the start. A tough lesson for the coach and his team.

Giovani Lo Celso - 7.5: Silky smooth on the ball, he dictated the tempo alongside De Paul. His 95% pass accuracy and two key passes tell the story. He glided past players and was a joy to watch. From our perspective, he looked a class above everyone else on the pitch.

Forwards

Lionel Messi - 7.5: Even on a relatively quiet night, he was decisive. He provided an assist, created a big chance, and was unlucky to hit the woodwork. He drifted around the pitch, finding pockets of space. He didn't need to be at his magical best, but his genius was still evident.

José Manuel López - 8.5: Our highest-rated player, and deservedly so. He was a constant threat, registering an assist and having two shots on target.
