Evan Ferguson Lead Roma Player Ratings vs Genoa With a Rating of 9/10

Here are Roma Player Ratings vs Genoa

Goalkeeper

Mile Svilar - 7.0: Honestly, he had one of the quietest nights of his career for about 44 minutes. Then, he was called into action and made a fantastic save from Østigård’s header right before the half. That save was massive, it completely killed any hope Genoa had of a momentum swing. His distribution was fine, though he wasn't tested much. A clean sheet is a clean sheet.

Defenders

Jan Ziolkowski - 8.5: What a beast. This guy was a colossus at the back. He won a staggering eight aerial duels and was a clearing machine, making seven in total. We noticed he was imperious, snuffing out danger before it even started. A truly dominant defensive display that laid the foundation for the win.

Mario Hermoso - 7.5: A very composed and professional performance. He won the majority of his duels (8 out of 12) and his reading of the game was excellent, with four interceptions. From our perspective he was always in the right place. He even popped up with a key pass, showing his ability on the ball. Very solid.

Gianluca Mancini - 7.5: A strong outing before being substituted. He was defensively sound, winning his tackles and making crucial clearances. What impressed us was his desire to get forward, even providing a lovely pass that set up a chance for Evan Ferguson. Taken off for a well-deserved rest.

Midfielders

Bryan Cristante - 7.0: The captain led by example in the middle of the park. He dictated the tempo with his passing and was a tenacious presence, winning all three of his attempted tackles. He made one error that led to a shot but thankfully it amounted to nothing. A commanding presence.

Manu Koné - 8.0: He was electric. Scored a goal with a confident finish and was desperately unlucky not to have another when his shot cannoned off the woodwork. His high pass accuracy and driving runs from midfield were a constant problem for Genoa. An all-action performance.

Zeki Çelik - 6.5: A relatively quiet game for him compared to his teammates. He put in a shift and was tidy enough on the ball but didn't provide much of a creative spark. We noticed he lost possession a few too many times in non-threatening areas. An okay, if unspectacular, performance.

Wesley - 6.5: He was involved, creating a couple of good chances, including a big one for Paulo Dybala. Showed flashes of quality down the wing but his final product was often lacking. A bit wasteful in possession, but his work rate was commendable.

Forwards

Evan Ferguson - 9.0: Our clear Man of the Match. An absolutely outstanding performance from the striker. He got a goal, an assist, and was at the heart of everything good Roma did. His movement, link-up play, and clinical finishing were too much for the opposition. The highest-rated player on the pitch for a reason.

Matías Soulé - 7.5: Scored the crucial opening goal with a smart finish that set the tone for the entire match. He was a livewire on the wing, constantly looking to take on his man and create. It was a real shame his night was cut short by injury. He was on track for an even higher rating.

Paulo Dybala - 7.5: The maestro didn't get on the scoresheet, but his influence was undeniable. He drifted into pockets of space, linked the midfield and attack beautifully, and created two key chances. His intelligence and guile pulled the Genoa defence all over the place. A joy to watch.

Substitutes

Stephan El Shaarawy - N/A: Came on for the injured Soulé and looked lively, but the game was already won.
Niccolò Pisilli - N/A: Brought on to see out the game and gain some experience.
Daniele Ghilardi - N/A: Replaced Mancini and helped preserve the clean sheet.

Manager

G. Gasperini - 8.5: His game plan was executed to perfection. He sent his team out with incredible intensity, and they blew Genoa away in 30 minutes. The tactical setup was flawless, exploiting the visitors' weaknesses mercilessly. His substitutions were sensible, resting key players once the job was done.

Goalkeeper

Daniele Sommariva - 6.0: A tough night at the office. He shipped three goals but it could have been far worse without his four saves. Some of them were excellent stops. However, his distribution was erratic, putting his defence under unnecessary pressure. He was let down by those in front of him.

Defenders

Johan Vásquez - 5.0: A performance to forget for the captain. He was directly at fault for one of the goals with a glaring error. From our perspective, he looked overwhelmed and off the pace. A really difficult evening against a rampant Roma attack.

Leo Østigård - 5.5: He struggled to cope with the movement of Roma's forwards. He did have one of his team's best chances with a powerful header that forced a great save. Substituted before the hour mark after a bruising encounter.

Sebastian Otoa - 7.0: The only defender who can hold his head high. What stood out to us was his fighting spirit; he won an incredible 12 duels and made 8 clearances. He was a one-man wall at times, trying desperately to stem the tide. A courageous performance in a losing cause.

Midfielders

Aarón Martín - 6.0: He worked tirelessly and delivered some dangerous crosses into the box. However, he was often exposed defensively and was wasteful in possession. A mixed bag of a performance, with more negative moments than positive ones.

Brooke Norton-Cuffy - 6.0: He was full of energy and won a decent number of his duels which was good to see. But beyond that, he offered very little in an attacking sense. He missed a decent headed chance early in the game which could have changed things.

Ruslan Malinovskyi - 4.0: A disastrous performance. He made a catastrophic error that led directly to a goal, a moment from which his team never recovered. He was anonymous creatively and was rightly hooked before the hour. Easily the worst player on the pitch.

Morten Frendrup - 6.5: He tried his best to keep things together in a chaotic midfield. He was tidy in possession and made several important tackles. But he was fighting a losing battle against Roma's superior numbers and quality. The yellow card was a sign of his frustration.

Mikael Egill Ellertsson - 5.5: We barely noticed he was on the pitch. He lost six of his eight duels and failed to make any meaningful impact on the game. A passenger for long spells, he just couldn't get into the flow of the match.

Forwards

Vitinha - 6.5: He was Genoa's brightest spark in attack. His willingness to run at defenders and his strength in the duel were impressive, winning 12 of them. However, his final product and finishing let him down. He looked like the only one capable of making something happen.

Caleb Ekuban - 5.0: A completely anonymous display. He struggled to hold the ball up, lost almost all of his duels and offered no threat whatsoever. It was no surprise to see him substituted early in the second half. A very poor outing.

Substitutes

Alessandro Marcandalli - N/A: Came on but couldn't change the game's outcome.
Lorenzo Colombo - N/A: Brought on to offer a different option up front but had little service.
Seydou Fini - N/A: A late change with the game already lost.
Jeff Ekhator - 7/10: Replaced the tired Vitinha but scored a goal in the last minutes of the game.

Manager

D. De Rossi - 4.5: He got it badly wrong. His team looked tactically naive and were completely unprepared for Roma's opening blitz. The defensive structure was shambolic. His substitutions were logical but came far too late to have any effect on the result.
