Summary

  • The poor form of West Ham United continues as the visitors took all 3 points from the game.
  • C. Wilson was the lowest rated player in the game
  • Tyrick Mitchell was the highest rated player of the game

What a rollercoaster of a match at the London Stadium. Crystal Palace pulled off a hard-fought 2-1 win against West Ham United in a Premier League clash that had us on the edge of our seats. From our perspective, this was a game defined by moments rather than sustained dominance from either side. Palace just had the sharper cutting edge when it mattered.

The visitors struck first. Jean-Philippe Mateta headed home from a corner, putting them ahead. The Hammers fought back, and it was their talisman, Jarrod Bowen , who leveled the score early in the second half. For a moment, it felt like the momentum was shifting. But Palace had other ideas, and Tyrick Mitchell popped up with a clinical finish to seal the victory. It was a classic away performance, soaking up pressure and being lethal on the counter. The match was a testament to Palace's resilience under O. Glasner.

Here are West Ham Vs Crystal Palace Player Ratings

Goalkeeper

Alphonse Areola - 6.0: A tricky day for the keeper. He couldn't do much about either goal. Mateta's header was too close, and Mitchell's strike was well-placed. He made a decent save from Lerma late on but looked a bit shaky with his distribution at times, losing possession 12 times. It just wasn't his day.

Defenders

Kyle Walker-Peters - 6.5: A mixed bag. He was active down the right, had a decent shot on target saved, and won most of his duels. However, he was part of a defence that conceded twice and was caught out of position a couple of times. He tried to get forward but the final product was often lacking. A decent effort, but not enough to change the game.

Maximilian Kilman - 5.5: Looked a bit overwhelmed. He picked up a yellow card for a clumsy foul just before halftime. While he won a lot of aerial duels, he seemed to struggle with Palace's fluid attackers on the ground. A tough afternoon for the centre-back, who seemed a step off the pace.

Konstantinos Mavropanos - 7.0: Probably West Ham's best defender. He was a commanding presence, making 7 crucial clearances and winning his tackles. He even had a header saved early on. From our perspective, he did everything he could to keep the backline organised against a constant threat.

El Hadji Malick Diouf - 6.5: A very eventful game for him. He provided a great assist for Bowen's goal with a pinpoint cross. However, his defensive work was questionable, and he earned a yellow card for a late challenge. He was a threat going forward but a liability at the back, which sums up West Ham's performance.

Midfielders

Crysencio Summerville - 5.0: A really quiet and ineffective performance. He struggled to get into the game, lost possession frequently, and was subbed off after 78 minutes. We noticed he seemed hesitant on the ball. A day he will want to forget quickly.

James Ward-Prowse - 6.0: His set-piece delivery was, as always, a threat, and he created a couple of chances. But in open play, he was often bypassed and lost possession 13 times. He put in the effort but lacked his usual influence on the game's tempo. Disappointing from a player of his quality.

Lucas Paquetá - 5.5: So much talent but so much frustration. He tried to make things happen, attempting 6 dribbles. But he lost the ball a staggering 20 times and picked up a needless yellow card. What stood out to us was his body language; he looked increasingly annoyed as the game went on. Needs to be more disciplined.

Mateus Fernandes - 6.0: A neat and tidy performance without really making a significant impact. He kept the ball moving but didn't offer much in the final third. It wasn't a surprise to see him substituted as West Ham chased the game. An okay, but forgettable, outing.

Jarrod Bowen - 7.5: West Ham's shining light. He scored a fantastic header to bring them level and was a constant menace. He worked tirelessly and always looked like the most likely player to create something. Without him, West Ham would have looked completely toothless. A captain's performance in a losing effort.

Forwards

Callum Wilson - 4.5: Almost invisible. He had only 10 touches before being hooked just before the hour mark. He offered nothing in terms of threat or hold-up play. From our perspective, it was a shockingly poor performance, and the substitution was completely justified.

Substitutes

Niclas Füllkrug - 6.0: Came on for Wilson and offered more of a physical presence but couldn't find a breakthrough.

Soungoutou Magassa - N/A: Not on long enough to rate.

Luis Guilherme - N/A: Came on late and had a headed chance but not enough time to make a real impact.

Manager

G. Potter - 5.0: His team looked disjointed and lacked a clear plan. They got back into the game but then immediately let it slip again. The decision to start Wilson backfired, and the team looked vulnerable defensively throughout. A poor result at home.

Goalkeeper

Dean Henderson - 7.0: A solid display from Henderson. He made two important saves, including a great one to deny Walker-Peters. He commanded his area well, despite a yellow card late on for time-wasting. He was a reliable presence behind a strong defence.

Defenders

Maxence Lacroix - 6.5: A steady performance. He was part of a well-drilled backline and did his job without much fuss. He was unlucky to hit the woodwork with a chance of his own. He lost a few aerial duels but was generally solid in his positioning.

Marc Guéhi - 8.0: An absolute rock at the back. The captain led by example, winning a remarkable 11 out of 15 duels and making some crucial tackles and interceptions. He read the game beautifully and marshalled the defence with authority. A commanding, man-of-the-match-worthy performance.

Chris Richards - 7.5: What a machine. He made an incredible 12 clearances, including a last-man tackle. He was immense in the air and on the ground, winning all his tackles. Alongside Guéhi, he formed a formidable barrier that West Ham just couldn't break down consistently.

Midfielders

Daniel Muñoz - 7.0: A bundle of energy on the right flank. He was solid defensively and supported the attack well, even creating a chance. He had a few shots of his own and was a constant outlet for his team. A very good all-round performance.

Tyrick Mitchell - 8.5: Our Man of the Match. What a game he had. He scored the winning goal with a cool finish and was a creative force, setting up three chances for his teammates. He was a little reckless at times, earning a yellow card, but his attacking contribution was simply outstanding. A phenomenal display.

Will Hughes - 6.5: Did the dirty work in midfield effectively before being substituted. He kept it simple, broke up play, and protected the back four. It wasn't a spectacular performance, but it was a necessary one. A disciplined and professional job.

Adam Wharton - 7.5: Another classy display from the young midfielder. Before being subbed, he created three key chances and looked a cut above with his vision and passing. His delivery for Mateta's missed header was sublime. Palace missed his creativity after he went off.

Forwards

Yéremy Pino - 6.5: Looked very lively in the first half before being taken off at halftime, perhaps due to a knock or tactical change. He was involved in the build-up play and won most of his duels. A promising but short-lived appearance.

Jean-Philippe Mateta - 7.5: A classic striker's performance. He got the crucial opening goal with a poacher's header. He worked hard, held up the ball, and was a general nuisance for the West Ham defence. His physical presence was key to Palace's game plan.

Daichi Kamada - 8.0: A fantastic creative performance. He was everywhere, creating three chances and winning an incredible 11 duels. His dribbling and link-up play were a joy to watch. What stood out to us was his work rate, contributing defensively with tackles and interceptions. He was at the heart of everything good for Palace.

Substitutes

Justin Devenny - 6.0: Came on at halftime and put in a decent shift without the same creative spark as Pino.

Jefferson Lerma - 6.5: Added steel and experience to the midfield to see out the game, though he did pick up a late yellow.

Eddie Nketiah - 6.0: Looked sharp after coming on and had a shot blocked.

Manager

O. Glasner - 8.0: His game plan was executed to perfection. The team was organised, resilient, and clinical when it mattered. His substitutions were logical and helped manage the game effectively. A brilliant away victory masterminded by the Austrian.
