Having reached the top flight for the first time in their history, they also made waves in Europe by playing in the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League. They were also home to famous German coaches like Hansi Flick, Ralf Rangnick, and Julian Nagelsmann.
They established themselves as a top-flight regular and are pushing for silverware.
Let us take a look at Hoffenheim sponsors, Hoffenheim fans, Hoffenheim History and Hoffenheim Net Worth.
Originally founded in 1899 as a gymnastics club, Hoffenheim took its modern form in 1945. It was formed after the merger of Turnverein Hoffenheim and football club Fußballverein Hoffenheim. They continued playing in amateur leagues for multiple decades. The club reached the Verbandsliga Nordbaden in 1996 after showing signs of improvement.
Their biggest turning point came around 2000 when ex-player and billionaire Dietmar Hopp (co-founder of SAP) returned to the club as a financial backer. Hopp passionately funded the club well, and there were instant results. They debuted in the DFB-Pokal in the 2003-04 season and made it to the quarters. Flick was at the helm in helping them rise from amateur levels towards a professional setup.
Hopp's massive investment in 2006 saw the club sign multiple Bundesliga-proven players and a high-profile coach in Rangnick. It was a massive success as Rangnick took them to 2. Bundesliga and even to the Bundesliga for the first time ever in just a season. After years of staying outside the top level, they entered the big leagues. Rangnick gave them a seventh-place finish in their first top-flight season with Vedad Ibisevic and Demba Ba leading the way.
The club brushed past a couple of close shaves with relegation to establish themselves as a proper first division club. Nagelsmann's appointment in 2016 changed their fortune as they signed star players like Andrej Kramaric and Kerem Demirbay. Nagelsmann delivered fourth and third-place finishes back-to-back as the club enjoyed their best spell. After Nagelsmann's departure, they are suffering from mediocrity and inconsistency. They recently finished 15th and just about escaped relegation. The club hopes to find some sort of footing and then hunt for that elusive silverware.
