In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, it is learned that M Chinnaswamy has received the green signal to host the Indian Premier League 2026 games. Newly elected KSCA chief Venkatesh Prasad has fulfilled his promise, which he made before being elected.

Venkatesh Prasad met with Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and other government officials in Belagavi. The discussions took place, and the conversations seemed to have taken place well.

The reports claimed that the KSCA stadium has received a clean chit to host the Vijay Hazare Trophy games of Delhi. One of the best cricketers in India, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will be featuring in three games, and the KSCA will be making arrangements for 2000-3000 people.

A source close to ESPNCricinfo said that the KSCA will work on the recommendations of D'Cunha to bring back cricket to Chinnaswamy Stadium for IPL 2026.

"We're on track for the IPL to be back," an office-bearer privy to the developments told ESPNcricinfo. “The KSCA is expected to begin work on the D'Cunha recommendations in a phased manner.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 will be crucial for one of the best cricket stadiums in the world, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, as it will serve as a great audition for them to make their case strong to host games in the IPL 2026.

Home Minister to Meet KSCA President, Deputy CM Shivakumar

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar also recently provided an update about the meetings that took place with KSCA. He said that they have granted permission, and the home minister will hold final discussions with the KSCA president.

"To avoid any future incidents, we have put in place precautionary measures. We have granted permission accordingly," Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar said after the state's cabinet meeting on Friday. “The Home Minister will hold discussions with the KSCA president and police officials.”

Cricket returning to M Chinnaswamy means that it will be a big boost for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Indian Premier League 2026. There were reports related to RCB moving to Navi Mumbai, as reports claimed that the Karnataka government wouldn't be able to give permission to host games at the venue, but now, fans would be happy to see their favourite team play back at home.
