RCB sale

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has officially been put up for sale, and this marks a significant shift in the IPL franchise's future. Diageo, the British multinational beverage company that owns United Spirits Ltd. (which in turn owns RCB), announced that the process of RCB sale has already begun. The company is optimistic about completing the sale by March 31, 2026.

This decision was disclosed publicly by Diageo through a formal communication to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on November 5. In its statement, Diageo referred to this move as a "Strategic Review of the Investment" in its fully owned subsidiary, Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd. (RCSPL). The business operations of RCSPL include the ownership of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise, which competes in both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL), the two prestigious cricket leagues organised annually by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Top 5 Potential RCB New Owner

Diageo’s decision to sell RCB comes after consideration of its overall strategy, and the company is now looking for a potential buyer who can take RCB to the next level in both the men’s and women’s cricket arenas. Diageo is confident that a deal will be finalised before the end of March 2026.

Several potential buyers are reportedly eyeing the RCB sale, with a number of high-profile individuals and groups showing interest. Among the rumoured contenders are a private investment firm from the United States, the Adani Group, the Jindal family of the JSW Group, Adar Poonawalla of the Serum Institute of India, and Delhi-based entrepreneur Ravi Jaipuria, associated with the Devyani International Group.

The news of RCB being up for sale has been circulating publicly for some time, but it gained attention following the tragic stampede that occurred outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4. The incident resulted in the deaths of 11 fans and left several others injured, and this led to conversations about the future of the franchise, including the possibility of its sale.
