One of them is the Hardik Pandya trade, which has been under the spotlight for months after a very disappointing IPL 2026 season with the Mumbai Indians, amid reports that MI will trade Hardik to another franchise from the next season onwards.

Some of the best teams in the IPL have shown interest in adding Hardik Pandya to their squads, but many have failed to reach successful negotiations. In a recent development, it has been reported that Hardik Pandya has approached his former franchise, Gujarat Titans, but they have declined the request. Why Was Hardik Pandya Return to GT Request Declined?

Hardik Pandya, who is considered the best all-rounder in IPL, has shown interest in going back to his previous franchise, Gujarat Titans, amid the trade deals going on. According to reports, GT showed interest in him at first but later on declined his request to join GT back because Pandya demanded the role of captain upon his arrival. To counter this demand, GT management rejected this request as they are keen on continuing with Shubman Gill as the skipper of the team, as he has shown good results in leading the team well when Pandya left and built the team from scratch when it was struggling. This led to Hardik Pandya GT talks for a trade in vain.

He has captained the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians, where he led GT to its first title win in 2022, followed by runners up match in 2023 and then took over Rohit Sharma's MI captaincy and led MI to the qualifiers in 2025. He is also regarded as a fearless captain for his approach to leading a team.
