Bristol City vs Leeds United Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips

Bristol City vs Leeds United Match Preview

Struggling, 13th placed Bristol City will host fourth placed Leeds United in the EFL Championship on Saturday, February 3.

The hosts enter this contest on the back of a poor run of form. They have won just thrice in their last 10 games across competitions, losing twice and drawing five games. The goals have also dried up as Bristol have managed to score just four goals in their last five games. However, with just a seven point gap between fifth and 13th, the Robins will look to win to get into the top half of the table. Bristol fought for a 2-2 draw away to sixth placed Coventry in their last game and will look to put in a strong performance.

The visitors, on the other hand, have lost just twice in their last 10 games across competitions. They won six and drew two of the remaining eight games and are moving closer to the top of the table. The Whites have kept clean sheets in four of their last six games and will look to put in another good defensive performance. After five wins on the bounce, Leeds drew 1-1 against Plymouth Argyle in their last game in the 4th Round of the FA Cup. They will look to return to winning ways in the next one.

On that note, let’s take a look at the team news from both sides.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Bristol City

Liam Manning’s side enter this game with no injuries to report, with the entire squad fit and available for the game. Having rotated the squad slightly in the last few weeks, Manning will likely stick to the team he has fielded in the last two games.

Meanwhile, George Tanner and Taylor Gardner-Hickman are at the risk of facing suspensions, having already picked up four yellow cards this season.

The manager will stick with his trusted XI and hope they get the job done.

Predicted XI: Max O’Leary (GK), George Tanner, Zak Vyner, Robert Dickie, Sam Bell, Joe Williams, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, Cameron Pring, Jason Knight (C), Anis Mehmeti, Nahki Wells.

Leeds United

Leeds have been without defender Stuart Dallas long-term as he is yet to return from a femoral fracture suffered back in April 2022.

Manager Daniel Farke has a particular set of players he rotates often but is likely to stick to a combination of the teams he has used in the last couple of games.

Winger Daniel James is the only player facing a risk of being suspended for the accumulation of too many yellow cards, with four to his name already.

Predicted XI: Illan Meslier (GK), Archie Gray, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu (C), Junior Firpo, Ilia Gruev, Glen Kamara, Daniel James, Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, Patrick Bamford.

Prediction

As you can see, Leeds United have absolutely dominated this matchup against Bristol over the last few years. They have won each of the last five meetings, scoring nine goals and conceding just two in the process. The trend is likely to continue with the visitors in a much better vein of form than their hosts.

Forwards Crysencio Summerville and Daniel James will be threats to look out for, with Patrick Bamford back in the fold as well.  With a heavily-stacked frontline and a solid defence, Leeds look primed to win their next game.

Considering just one of the last five meetings saw more than three goals, this one could be decided with less goals as well.

Prediction: Bristol 0-3 Leeds.
