Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag quashes PSG rumors linking Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford has been linked with PSG

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has quashed all rumors linking Marcus Rashford to PSG. The Dutchman reiterated that he’s an important part of the squad while affirming the club’s stance that the striker isn’t for sale right now.

PSG have reportedly lined-up a £75 million swoop for Rashford this summer, with Kylian Mbappe set to leave Parc des Princes. The Ligue 1 champions are in search of a new goalscoring talisman and have identified Rashford as a potential replacement for Mbappe.

Ten Hag was faced with questions on his future today, particularly about rumors of his PSG links, and the former Ajax manager was quick to pour cold water over all such speculations. Speaking to the press, he said:

“We did not re-sign Marcus last season for four years with the intention to sell him now. He should be part of Man United project and it’s not a subject we don’t talk about”.

Last July, the 26-year-old signed a new contract with the Red Devils that tied him to the club until 2028, having rejected interests from other English clubs as well as clubs from abroad. But that didn’t stop PSG rumors from resurfacing as Rashford was supposedly in for a shock transfer this summer. However, after Ten Hag’s statements, those speculations could boil down.

Marcus Rashford has been in poor form this season

One reason for Marcus Rashford’s exit rumors could be his dramatic decline in form. After netting 30 times last season, the striker set the bar a little too high for himself, and has notably failed, netting only seven times in 34 games across all competitions, although all seven of his strikes have come in the Premier League. His goalscoring average has dropped from 0.63 goals per 90 minutes to just about 0.2 per 90 minutes this term, proving to be a massive letdown from last year.
