Mauricio Pochettino confirms that Cole Palmer could face Aston Villa

While he did relatively well at Manchester City, not a lot was expected from Cole Palmer after he signed for Chelsea last summer. However, the Englishman has thrived for the Blues in the last six odd months, scoring 20 goals in just 27 Premier League appearances. Not only that, Palmer has contributed to 34 goals across all competitions this season with him a key part of Chelsea being a competitive side.

But the 21-year-old has struggled with his share of injuries over the course of the season and even missed the 5-0 defeat to Arsenal. However, reports had indicated that Palmer only missed the Arsenal clash through illness and could be fit for the remainder of the season. That has now been confirmed by Mauricio Pochettino in his pre-match press conference.

Pochettino reveals that Cole Palmer could face Aston Villa

The Blues face Aston Villa in their next fixture at Villa Park before hosting Tottenham and West Ham United at Stamford Bridge before the end of the season. However, Chelsea do have six games left on their fixture list and could still make a European place if results go in their favour.

Thus as a result, many fans were hoping that Palmer would be fit especially given the 21-year-old’s form. Pochettino went on to add that Palmer has trained well over the last few days and is fit enough to potentially face Villa in Gameweek 35.

“Cole has trained well in the past two days. We assume he will be ready for tomorrow’s game and be part of the squad,” Pochettino said, reported Chelsea’s official page.
