History has been created by Kerala as they qualified for the first time into the final of the Ranji Trophy in 74 years and 352 games by the bare margin of 2 runs. Kerala won the toss and elected to bat first. Kerala in the first inning scored 457 before they got all out. The Wicket-keeper batter Azharuddeen scored a century (177*) and helped the team achieve this fighting score on a batting-friendly pitch. Beside him, Sachin Baby the captain of the Kerala team scored a half-century (69).

On the other hand, Gujarat went all guns blazing from the beginning of their batting inning and put up an opening partnership of 131 runs. Priyam Panchal scored a brilliant Century and a total score of 148 runs, his opening batting partner Aarya Desai also scored a half-century and a total score of 73 before he got out and their opening partnership was broken by Nedumankuzhy Basil.
After that middle order batter Jaymeet Patel took the command in his hand scored 79 and took the team forward. When Jaymeet got out it was the 8th wicket of Gujarat and they still had to score 21 to level the first inning score and 22 to take the lead which eventually confirmed their slot into the Finals of Ranji Trophy 2025.
Then the drama started in the middle of the pitch at Narendra Modi Stadium Gujarat needed only 2 more runs to level the score with Kerala however, they were left with only one wicket. It was the 174th over of Gujarat’s innings and on the 4th ball, Nagwaswalla went to play an aggressive shot on the leg side. Eventually, his stroke hit the helmet of the short-leg fielder and went towards the first slip where the captain of the Kerala team Sachin Baby was standing in that fielding position. Sachin Baby took the catch easily and Gujarat got all-out with that and Kerala got a 2-run lead in the first inning of the semi-final. This 2-run lead ensured a spot in the finals of the Ranji Trophy 2025 for Kerala.
