David Warner, Adam Zampa Leave PSL Midway - Set to Join IPL?

While the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is keeping cricket fans entertained across the globe with its thrilling on-field action, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is also making sure that the fans get some never-heard-before and surprising off-field developments in the ongoing edition.

Renowned PSL franchise Karachi Kings recently took an unexpected decision to release its four key players from the team ahead of their next PSL match. The players include captain David Warner, Adam Zampa, Hasan Ali, and Azam Khan. The release of Warner and Zampa has created a buzz whether they are coming to join the Indian Premier League by leaving Pakistan.

Why Did Adam Zampa, David Warner Leave PSL?

The four released players from the list includes two overseas stars from Australia - David Warner and Adam Zampa. There were some speculations that these players will be playing the IPL, leaving PSL midway. However, the reports are only rumours as they are not a part of any IPL franchises this season.

Warner has taken retirement from international cricket, while Zampa continues to represent Australia in the international platform. However, both players decided not to register for the 19th edition of the richest cricket league in the world, and surprisingly opted to play in the Pakistan Super League.

Warner went unsold during the 2025 IPL auction and hence didn't register for this year's auction. On the other hand, Zampa was acquired by the Sunrisers Hyderabad last season but was ruled out of the entire season due to a shoulder injury. To manage his workload, the star spinner, who is one of the best T20 bowlers, decided to join PSL to avoid the hectic IPL 2026 schedule. Recently, Adam Zampa PSL comment went quite viral in which he revealed why he picked Pakistan's league over the more lucrative IPL.

Why Did Karachi Kings Release Players Midway?

According to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Karachi Kings players break decision is aimed at keeping them fresh and mentally prepared ahead of the upcoming fixtures, which are going to be super important for them. David Warner and Adam Zampa are allowed to travel internationally. The former Australia captain will be spending some quality time with his family, while the spinner is currently on vacation.

Talking about the other two released players, Hasan Ali and Azam Khan, they have also received permission from the franchise to get done with their personal obligations. Pacer Hasan Ali will also be attending a family function.

Notably, all these players will rejoin the squad before April 9, when the Kings face Peshawar Zalmi in an important fixture as they will look to carry their momentum till they reach the playoffs.
