The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the highly anticipated squads for the 2026-27 Duleep Trophy, signalling the official start of the Indian red-ball domestic season. The prestigious tournament, returning to its traditional six-zone format, is scheduled to run from August 23 to September 6, 2026.

A major talking point from the squad announcements is the continued rise of one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has been named vice-captain of the East Zone. He will serve as deputy to wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. This match brings together experienced international players and talented young cricketers, making the tournament exciting and highly competitive ahead of the busy domestic season.

Duleep Trophy Teams List 2026

The 2026 edition of the Duleep Trophy marks a return to India’s classic First-Class red-ball structure, bringing intense inter-zonal competition back to the forefront. This tournament will feature six zonal teams, North Zone, South Zone, East Zone, West Zone, Central Zone, and North East Zone, competing in one of India’s premier first-class domestic tournaments.

The competition is set to begin on 23 August 2026 in Bengaluru and will showcase some of the best batsmen in India. West Zone enter the tournament as the defending champions, having won the previous edition, and they will be aiming to retain their title with another strong and experienced squad.

As the 2026–27 domestic red-ball season gets closer, the teams for the Duleep Trophy 2026 are gradually being announced. So far, only East Zone and West Zone have confirmed their squads. Ishan Kishan will captain East Zone, while Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead West Zone. The other four zones are expected to announce their squads soon; below is the complete list of players of these two teams for the upcoming event.
