Due to the ongoing fuel crisis, the PSL didn't have any opening ceremony and all the matches will be held indoors. The fans are not allowed to watch the match from the stadiums as the government has urged the nation to stay indoors as much as possible.

However, a video started circulating during the LQ vs HK 2026 match where the daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was seen enjoying the match from the stands. The presence of the elites of the society during the first made the star bowler Naseem Shah lose his cool and posted an angry post for her. Maryam Nawaz is not only Pakistan's former PM Nawaz Sharif's daughter but is also serving as the sitting Chief Minister of the Punjab province of Pakistan. She was also present during the PSL 2026 opening match, which was played in Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, one of the top cricket stadiums in Pakistan.

Along with her, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and others were present. On seeing the presence of all elite people, Pakistan bowler Naseem Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) and slammed the authorities for treating Maryam differently. According to Firstpost, he posted, “Why is she treated like the queen at Lord's?”

His post went viral within minutes. However, as the Naseem Shah Maryam Nawaz controversy constantly took over the social media, he deleted the tweet after some time. The Pakistan quick then released a statement on X saying his account was hacked but it has been retrieved.

“This account of Naseem was recently hacked but now recovered successfully.” After the Naseem Shah controversy blew up, Naseem, one of the best Pakistani bowlers, received a lot of backlash from the fans as they mentioned that since he is a huge Imran Khan fan, he has issues with the current government. Meanwhile, some fans pointed out that everything started with Naseem's injury in 2023.

Important PSL Season for Naseem Shah

While Naseem Shah is a key part of Pakistan cricket team, he is yet to showcase his talent in the PSL. In the previous season, he played 10 games but managed to pick up just nine wickets at an average of 40.33, while playing for Islamabad United.

However, in the upcoming edition, he has been signed by the new franchise Rawalpindi (Rawalpindiz), with a bid of PKR 8.65 crore. He has been in and out of the national team over the years and this PSL season will be important for him.
