Team India has suffered a big setback ahead of the fourth Test against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches in the series.

The reason is a left knee injury that he suffered during a gym session. The BCCI shared an official injury update on Monday, July 21. The BCCI said in a statement, “All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests owing to a left knee injury. Nitish will fly back home and the team wishes him a speedy recovery.”
This is a major blow for India as Reddy gave stellar performances during the third Test. He scored 30 and 13 runs at Lord’s and took three wickets across both innings. Reddy had missed the first Test at Headingley. In the second Test at Edgbaston, he scored 1 and 1 with the bat and went wicketless, with bowling figures of 0/29. His performance improved in the third Test where he got 2/62 and 1/20.
However, during a gym training session on Sunday, the 22-year-old injured his left knee. The scans later showed ligament damage, which ended his participation in the series.
BCCI Confirms Arshdeep Singh Injury
India have already lost the first and third Tests of the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series They are currently trailing by 2-1 in the five-match series. The fourth Test will begin on July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester. But Nitish is not the only injury concern. The BCCI has also confirmed that fast bowler Arshdeep Singh will not be available for the fourth Test.
He suffered an impact injury to his left thumb during a net session in Beckenham. He was hit while bowling and is now under medical supervision.
The BCCI said, “Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth Test against England at Manchester. He sustained an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets at a training session in Beckenham. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress.”
In place of Arshdeep, the BCCI has called up Anshul Kamboj, a young pacer who has now joined the team in Manchester. The BCCI added, “The Men’s Selection Committee has added Anshul Kamboj to the squad. Kamboj has joined the team in Manchester.”

Anshul Kamboj is yet to make his debut for India. His addition to the squad comes at a crucial time, with multiple pacers injured and India needing to bounce back in the series. India will be under pressure heading into the fourth Test as they need to win to stay alive in the series. The loss of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Arshdeep Singh will add more difficulty to their challenge.
A lot will be expected from captain Shubman Gill, who has been in good overall form with the bat. However, he didn't have a great time with the bat at Lord's.
