Ishan Kishan Rises, Tilak Varma Falls in Latest ICC Rankings

3 min
Ishan Kishan ICC ranking

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 has been an incredible platform for players to showcase their performance to the entire world. India's star batter Ishan Kishan, who returned to the T20I team after 2 years, has been in phenomenal form in this tournament. On the other hand, the World Cup campaign hasn't been going well for Tilak Varma, who bats at the No. 3 position for India in this format.

Hence, both players have seen a significant change in the ICC T20I Rankings for batsmen. Ishan Kishan ICC ranking has risen because of his terrific recent form while Tilak has fallen in the latest rankings for batters.

Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma's Rankings Change

The left-handed batter, Ishan Kishan, has scored two half-centuries so far in the T20 World Cup 2026, and hence, he has jumped to the fifth position in the T20I rankings. He is the only Indian player after Abhishek Sharma to be in the top five.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma's lack of performance in this tournament led him to drop three places in the rankings. Tilak Varma ICC ranking is seventh currently while Suryakumar Yadav, is at the sixth spot.

When the tournament started, Kishan, one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world, currently, was in eighth place, but thanks to his performances, he has finally entered the top five. His current rating is 742, while Varma's rating is 730.

Both players are quite important in the team, especially with some of the crucial matches coming up in the Super 8 stage. After losing to South Africa, India's qualification scenario has become tough. They will have to win the rest of the matches with a good NRR to make it to the semi-finals.

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma's Performance In T20 World Cup 2026

India's top order has struggled the most to score runs in this edition of ICC T20 World Cup. While Ishan Kishan is the only player who has managed to score half-centuries, the others are yet to get past the 50-run mark. So far, Ishan has scored 176 runs in five matches at an average of 35.20. He has performed well in crunch situations, which is a huge plus point for India.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma has managed to score runs, but is yet to get a big score. He has scored 102 runs in five matches, which doesn't suit someone who is among the best T20 batsmen in the world. He has received a lot of criticism for his performance in the ongoing tournament and all eyes will be on him in the upcoming matches.
